I nodded, heading for the door. I frowned, not seeing a way to open it. Fucking hunters! Checking all around, I found an access panel. “Of course, it is fingerprint coded. It looks like I’m going to need your help, cabrón.” I sighed, glancing over to Izmati. I can’t just drag him everywhere. But I’ll probably need his fingerprint to get anywhere in this place.

“But there are levels to this game, Henrique.” I took a step forward. “Return the shipment you hijacked. Or be ready to be torn alive.” Henrique spat on the ground near my boot. He laughed, taunting me. “Go on. I dare you. Do your worst.” I tilted my head. “As you wish.” I didn’t even have to signal. The clearing erupted into a total disorder. Bodies collided; the sound of fists hitting the enemy’s flesh; the snarls of wolves filling the air.

Another head rolled. The third man looked up at the balcony where I stood. His eyes found mine. He didn’t scream. Then his head was struck from his shoulders. The three bodies were left where they fell, twitching as the dark magic tried to claim them. Seraph’s puppets laughed with a hundred voices at once.

Leo's brother handed me a blade, asking if I wanted to finish them myself. "No, thanks." I shook my head. I was not bloodthirsty. Lucas Goldmane raised his eyebrows in surprise, thinking I was going to spare them. Instead, I pulled out several poison pills and had Lucas force them down their throats. There was no point getting my hands dirty. This kind of death was more fitting for their crimes than a clean kill. After finishing this, I turned to leave, but Mother's screams echoed behind me as she regained consciousness. "Help!"

I stand in front of them, ready to defend them to the death. “Luna, I…” I turn my head sharply and let Iris share control with me. “I SAID RUN!” I turn back just in time to lunge at the first vampire. I push him to the ground, using a claw to swipe at his chest. I see a leg come toward me, and I’m able to backflip away before it makes contact. I’m grateful I’m not too far along yet, or I’d be stuck.

I shifted my weight onto my other foot and grinned. I might not have stopped him, but the Thornblood dipped bullets had punctured him, binding shade and host to the same satisfying fate. I fired one last time, hitting him strait between his soulless eyes.

It became clear to him now—the real threat was Carissa, not her two servants. Grinding his teeth, Icarus charged forward, swinging his blade to sever the whip. If he didn't, that suicide soldier would be dead. Carissa yanked the whip, throwing the suicide soldier into the air at such a rapid speed that it nearly blurred Icarus' vision. He immediately altered his course to avoid striking his own man. However, it would have been better if he hadn't done that. The moment he changed direction, the blade bit into flesh—his long knife had cleaved the suicide soldier's head clean off.

Another one tries to attack, but I flip and kick him in the face. Before they can recover, I release my knife and dig it into another’s thigh. One of the men wraps his arm around my neck while another punches me. I throw myself down and toss the other man over my shoulder and into the other man. Connor finally gets up and punches one of the men in the face. I turn back, elbowing the man I stabbed and punch him in the face. The other men must realize that I’m a formidable hunter because they quickly clear out of the room, leaving their fallen behind.
