If He Had Been With Me Book Summary Novels & Stories

He followed me, he set up our first meeting. I could tell how badly he wanted this to work, but he was literally willing to give up his life so I would be happy. So I didn't have to give up my life… So I wouldn't have to give up everything I've ever known. Suddenly his thoughts changed. He had opened his eyes and he was wondering why I hadn't done it yet. His mind briefly went to the fact that he still had a chance, and then his eyes found my pouty lips. Before he could even think his next thought, he pulled me to him causing my knife, which I had a very loose grip on to begin with, to slip from my hand and clatter between the door and seat.

I said. “And we’ve got the best people in the world working on it, right now. I promise. You don’t have to be killing yourself as well.” He said. “No offense to your people or anything, but they weren’t even looking in the right books. They don’t have a clue.” I said. So he pulled up a chair next to me and started helping me look through these books. The ones that I knew were going to help me. I started getting a little excited about the fact that I was getting closer to going home. All I could think about was seeing Connor. Seeing the look on his face when he saw me.

If he was, I would have known it right away, and he would have introduced himself as my mate if he had felt the bond. It was nonsense to think that we could have any kind of sentimental relationship when I was more than sure that someone like him, a future Alpha, would respect the sacred precepts of the Goddess and wait for his mate. So I focused on what was important. I went resolutely to the librarian to check out the book. The man allowed it, but the book was due the next day, so I had no choice but to go to academic coordination to make copies of the chapters that were important to me. At that moment, Beta Henry saw me and frowned before looking sideways.

His eyes darkened with desire and I swallowed hard at his hoarse voice. “I wasn't expecting anything less,” I whispered, squeezing my thighs together. I had no idea what the future had in store for us but at that moment, everything felt right and we were happy. I guess that’s all that matters. I failed to keep count with our last encounter, but the understanding of the fact that it had been quite a very long time, made me understand his shock. "A long story. Can I get water please." He hesitated for a moment, his eyes scanning my entire body as he was still in disbelief. "Things happen to people. I guess it had always been who I am." I lied. I couldn't reveal to him about my ordeal with the book.

I attempt and fall flat to get back to rest for the following fifteen minutes, but it’s no utilize; I’m as well wound up approximately our mission nowadays, among other things, and I’d or maybe get a head begin on the day than spend the following two hours hurling and turning. I take care to maintain a strategic distance from shaking Chart book as I discreetly dress; I’m hesitant to wake him, particularly given how quiet he looks whereas he’s resting. "He is no longer a prisoner. He is my partner. And heaven help the man who tries to lay a finger on him." I stepped out into the morning air, the weight of the city pressing down on me. I had a Syndicate to run, a King to appease, and a war to win. But as I walked toward the main house, I couldn't stop thinking about the feeling of his hand in my fur. I had set out to break an Ashford, and instead, I had tethered my soul to one. The game had changed, and I was no longer the only one pulling the strings.

Hade said, like he just watched someone throw a punch in a drama series. I shrugged and stood up, ignoring the burn her words left in my gut. Hade followed my lead, mirroring me. “I know there’s one thing you’ve been dying to do,” he said, sudden excitement lighting his face. He rushed to my study table and grabbed a pen and a notebook. “I’m going to help you write your book!” I scoffed. “Nope. Not a chance.” He narrowed his eyes, looking personally offended. “I don’t dream about anything else anymore,” I said plainly. “Just my mom’s recovery.”

As he walked away, I closed my eyes and leaned back. I had no job, no plan, and no idea what came next. But I had Henry. And I would die before I let anyone take him from me.

“Don’t remember.” “I do.” He pinned my knees back as he brought our bodies close together. “Are you sure you want to do this?” I wouldn’t give last night another moment of my time. I’d learned my lesson, and now I would never walk home again. If Hades hadn’t been there to save me, my life would have taken a dark turn…or ended altogether. But that didn’t happen. “God, yes.” I grabbed his ass and pulled him deep inside me, feeling my toes curl when he was all the way in. “Yes.”
