Illusion Magic Deepwoken Novels & Stories

With the picture tucked securely in my pocket, I left Elara’s room, and took a walk back to my own room, locking the door behind me. “Anima in tenebris, levate vis, ignis in ferro, puritatem in sanguine.” I whispered, allowing the cloaking spell that had hidden my athame collection to lift like a veil. Tonight’s sacrifice would be unlike any other. It had to be special; it had to be memorable for Elara. I envisioned her holding her own blade, a pristine weapon untouched by the sins of my past.

“How do you know it is not King Galian’s wyvern? And what does that spell do?” Eluvene flicked her thick braid over her shoulder. “The Dark Illusion will blend the camp with the forest. While we can see outside the mist, others can’t spot us. I am sure you used illusion spells before.” “Illusions are one of the spells that should not be used!” Milton said in an angry tone. “Now, tell me about the wyvern!”

Since he wasn’t fighting me on how much I logged in, even I have been staying in the game while he rested, doing my own leveling up. “It should be fine.” Luka muttered as he took a step forward. When he placed his hand on the door, the vines and limbs magically separated until there was an open path for us. Once we were inside, the door closed once more, leaving us inside. The dungeon was different than it had been during the beta testing. There was a small mystical lake, with tiny light fairies flying around. They were so small that one could fit into the palm of my hand. Sitting on what looked like a throne made of vines, a giant Gnome sat eating berries.

We all sweared Dwarfs were just some made up species in a children’s book, but turns out they are real. The next week I was with Elder Darnell learning 6 Dark spells: Cloying Darkness, Darkvision, Flood of Darkness, Night Vision, Troubled Sleep, Weak Dark Bolt. I swear to the Moon Goddess the Bolt spells are my favorite ones to learn. For these 6 spells I did great and picked them up quickly.

They pressed forward, guided by the figure's subtle gestures. As they reached the heart of the Veil, illusions manifested, distorting reality. The Mirage Weaver, an elusive entity, weaved intricate patterns of deception. Lin, Hunter, and Stereo faced the illusions with a newfound clarity, drawing strength from the threads that bound them. The guardian's voice echoed one last time, "To break free, you must see through the illusions, embracing the truths within. Your destinies are entwined, and together you possess the power to unravel the Mirage Weaver's spell."

The pack members exchanged glances, recognizing the urgency of addressing Elvie's condition. Morgana approached Elvie, her movements purposeful as she initiated a mystical incantation. "Elvie, daughter of the moon, let the veils that bind you be lifted. Return to the essence that defines you." The room became a canvas for the interplay of supernatural forces as Morgana's spell unfolded. A gentle energy enveloped Elvie, and the unnatural calmness that gripped her began to wane. The transformation, a delicate dance between magic and destiny, unfolded as Elvie's true self emerged from the shadows.

whispered a voice that wasn’t Afnan’s but sounded eerily like the Moon itself. The runes spun faster. Afnan gasped as her own illusion appeared, two small wolves, twins, laughing as they ran across a silver plain. Then darkness swallowed them. The light in their eyes snuffed out, leaving her arms empty. She fell to her knees, breath trembling. “No, please, don’t take them again.” “You already carry them,” the voice murmured. “But your fear keeps them in shadow.” Delph reached for her, crossing through the swirling light. His hands found hers, their skin warm despite the cold air.

Soon, she couldn't even taste the saltiness of her own tears. Her words became slurred, but she managed to force out one final question. “Why? Why are you doing this t—” She couldn't speak anymore. But she could still hear. “This will help you. I am helping you.” A small sigh escaped Vita's lips, barely audible over the loud cracks of breaking bones. “You will become the thing the monsters that hunt you at night fear. You will become the Beast that hunts with every sense, my sweet Selene.” The cracks became more rapid.

Her face was tight with anguish, her movements frantic. As the vision deepened, the cave around me seemed to dissolve, replaced by a shimmering, surreal landscape. The air pulsed with an ancient energy, the walls vibrating with unseen forces. Time seemed to slow, and a golden light, soft yet powerful, engulfed me. I found myself standing in the same cave but centuries earlier. The air was thick with magic, its presence tangible as it weaved through the water and stone like a living entity.

Killian pinched the bridge of his nose, pacing the room. “So there really weren’t any wolves?” I asked and she nodded. “Your fears invoked them.” I closed my eyes in both embarrassment and dread. When the oracle asked about my awakening the other day, I thought little it as I assumed my dreams were enough for a hybrid but now, this. What kind of awakening brought my fears to life? Was this a gift or a curse? “Illusion,” Killian muttered. “It sounds dangerous.” “It is,” Victoria said. “If you are not careful, you can be sucked into the illusions your mind creates and it – well – it is capable of destroying a person’s mind.”
