The moment I stepped foot in my room, I was hit with the scent of his perfume, and I shivered in fear as I realized that it was not the same scent as Felix. I may be just a designer, but it’s always been my hobby to explore and get the different tastes and scents of many things. Felix perfume is a designer's perfume while this other one is a cheap replica. I’m guessing their shoes and jeans are just slightly alone too, it could be that he is trying to imitate Felix and have the same thing he has. Or maybe my mind is just trying to mess with me. Maybe my mind is coming up with this explanation so I don’t get to hate Felix for putting me through something like this.

I ask as I look up at him. It’s only as the scent of him teases my senses I realize how close I’ve gotten. Months after I met him I spent far too long in a department store hunting for the cologne he wore. With the patience of the woman at the counter who swore it was the most fun thing she’d done in months, she helped find that it was Silver Mountain Water by Creed. I’d flinched when she told me the smallest bottle was more than three hundred dollars. With a smile she’d added a twenty percent off coupon. I fought not to hug her. The scent lived on my pillow and would until the bottle goes empty. Heat waves flow over me. I long to lean into him, to feel his hard body against me.

Xavier smiled at me that way of his, like he already knew what I was thinking without me even opening my mouth. "You look happy today," he said, his eyes squinting a fraction like he was daring me. "Unlike someone who has board issues weighing on her." I chuckled briefly and loosely crossed my arms over my chest. "I'm learning how not to appear as if I have issues," I said. "If you pretend long enough, the imposter becomes reality." He pulled me into his arms without hesitation. His arms were warm. For a moment, I let myself simply remain there, breathing in the gentle scent of his cologne.

The drive to the Italian restaurant was quite enjoyable. His cologne was intoxicating and swirling around me. The smell of his cologne was all over the car making it hard to think. As his scent filled the air I couldn't help but inhale deeply. The deep breaths were bringing back memories. The cologne he was wearing was one of my favorites but if I were being honest I’d never actually smelled it on anyone before. The first time I had smelled that cologne I was at Macy’s shopping for Bryce. At that time I had no clue what to get him as he had more than enough money to buy himself whatever he wanted.

A predator in silk. I stood, reaching for a timepiece—Cartier, this time, something understated. Then chose a cologne: a Tom Ford private blend that smelled like power and perfectly veiled malice. I spritzed once at the neck, once at the wrist, and let the scent settle. And there it was. The transformation, complete. I no longer looked like the man who’d spent the morning ending someone’s delusions. Now I looked like the man who would own the rest of their week.

His cologne was darker than Mike’s – cedarwood, leather, and something smoky underneath. “Eloise,” he said softly, dipping his head in greeting. His dark eyes swept the atelier, taking in each display, each glowing showcase stand. “Your world is beautiful.” I swallowed against the tightness in my throat. “It’s… not enough yet. But thank you.” He walked closer, hands folded behind his back. His gaze fell on the designs pinned to the wall nearest him – the Max Collection. Damon studied them silently, his dark lashes casting shadows across his cheekbones.

He was my type, and he headed to Woolworths. "Fuck"! I exclaimed mistakenly that one guy who was passing by laughed and went on. I waited there, praying silently that he comes back, but even if he does, what am I going to say? What If he's unapproachable? No man! I can't...okay Maybe let me wear this cologne one more time, Delices de Carter, its amazing ,French. I hope my boss doesn't smell it on me otherwise I'll be dead meat today, he'll drag me by my ears and make a scene of me in the whole mall. I laughed at myself as I thought of that.

Unlike Lorenzo's, our colognes were specially made for us—by us—through one of Gramps' subsidiaries. As I got closer to the door, the scent became stronger, whoever owned the scent was in the living room. I decided to lean against the door for a while. "This one is a fake-an impostor", Mom's voice echoed; it was loud, Sharp and clear. I wondered who they could be referring to as a fake. The level of my curiosity increased, and I decided to stay by the door and listen carefully to what was going on. "She thinks she can deceive us" Anna's voice echoed through the room, out the door and into my ears.

Lucia burst into laughter before I could finish. Only after she laughed her fill did she finally sneer, "Logan, I don't know where you heard that I was being sponsored, but there's no way the person helping me was some broke loser like you. Just look at what you're wearing. There isn't even a logo on your clothes. "Plus, the Fraser family built its fortune on jewelry. I've never even seen you wear any." All my clothes had been custom-made, so they naturally weren't marred by those flashy logos. As for jewelry, it was because I'd been kidnapped when I was young. My father had worried constantly about my safety ever since, insisting I dress modestly to avoid attracting attention.

But the moment I turned, a sharp slap landed across my face without warning. "What are you supposed to be?" he barked. "Daring to cause trouble at my daughter's birthday party!" I frowned, studying the man in front of me. It was my father, Gregory Thompson. And yet, he looked at me as if I were a complete stranger. He stepped protectively in front of Camellia, his expression impatient. "Holding a fake authority token, and you dare come here to show off?" With that, he sealed my identity as an impostor.
