There was something glowing in my mind that was about to explode. The fleeting feelings of unknown was at the center of my thoughts. At this moment I am a prisoner in a free world. Every corners of my mind seemed to speak by themselves and my heart seemed to be in ablaze. I stared blankly at the bright light in house in daze. It was like my eyes were roving around for something which I was not there. Something beyond its reach it persisted and jammed my heart with queer thoughts. In this night, I felt like embracing somebody. My heart felt lonely and devoid while my whole body seemed into be in flames.

It was now or never and the only way to find out. "I love you too," I closed my eyes and waited for the burn searing in my tattoo. There, a slight burn, quite faint but it ended all too quickly, seared on my left chest. Was that a bad sign or a good sign? I casted my eyes downward to my left chest, to where my tattoo was. I checked surreptitiously to see if it glowed and thankfully, my button up shirt was three buttons undone so my chest was still visible. I frowned when it flickered weakly, like a busted light bulb. Was that supposed to happen? Was that supposed to glow like that? Did the curse break that confession?

Just a few lines. *I was the flame you all feared. I was the ember no one claimed. But I chose to burn anyway. *And beneath that, scrawled in a child’s messy hand: “We’re still burning. For you.”

"I won't hurt you, I didn't mean to hurt you, I swear!" "But you did!" I didn't know what I meant but I howled. My mind was vacant, but my heart seemed to remember it as it clamped. It was like it had thousands of needles nipping into it. It hurt and with each passing second, I felt like the breath in me was being knocked out as I gasped out loud. I brought my hand up to clutch my chest but it stopped midair as I realized it was burning; I Was Burning! "What's happening?!"

I whimper as the tears flow my inevitable doom approaching. “Put her out!” I feel the sharp prick before the burning liquid enters my heart and numbs my body. I jump bolt upright screaming and grasping my chest the burn still radiating throughout. I gasped for air as tears streamed down my face. I feel someone touch my back and scoot backward frantically. I fall to the ground and continue to scoot until I am backed into a corner. The stone is cool against my back but it does nothing to soothe the burning pain in my chest. I sob hysterically my entire body shaking as the burning radiates throughout me. My heart hurts in a way it never has before. It feels like someone is tearing it in half. I

But in my chest, guilt burns with the same heat as desire. Because you can’t love like this… without setting fire to everything in your path. And the city... The city burns. And I stand at the very center of the blaze. Between the man who loves me tenderly… and the one who wants me like I’m his favorite curse.

No matter how deep you breathe, it's still there—hot, forceful, and unshakeable. If you had it, then you know how I was feeling right now. I opened my mouth and gasped for air, but nothing helped; it was as if a fire was lit in my chest, and it refused to let go.

And one thing I have realized and found out, My dead stone-cold heart is slowly melting. The iced metal barrier I have built around my heart is laggardly shattering without my permission. Whether I want it or not, the burning passion is flaring up vigoriously, evanescing the frail wall I've been considering as a sturdy one. Or maybe my heart wasn't really frozen at all. I just kept myself being hurt again so I decided to astray from everything. I decided to close all the doors so no one could intrude my life and leave me shattered.

That was enough for someone's heart to burn. . …….

The onl‍y sound is the wind whistling through brok‌en steel. Finall‍y, he sighs. “If he’s‌ o⁠ut there, we’l‍l find him.
