Callum POV ********** It’s painful. It’s so much pain. It’s like my whole body is shutting down. I feel a rush of blood to my heart and it’s suffocating me. Each and every tissue of my body is ripping apart. It's all black. And blank. I am in the pit of an endless depth. With darkness and silence surrounding me. Where am I? I can't see or hear. I want to scream but my throat is blocked. My lips are dry and chapped or may be bleeding. I can taste blood.

No, I would do it myself. My right hand gripped the shard and stabbed it into Elizabeth's body. Not just once. I couldn't control what I was doing; it was as if my body was moving on its own. Blood splattered on my face and nightgown. The smell of blood piercing my nose made my throat feel dry. Elizabeth had stopped moving for a few minutes now. With a little stagger, I stood up and moved away from her, my slightly trembling hand still gripping the shard tightly.

Julian’s POV An overpowering stench of blood, mixed with the minus-thirty-degree aura of death, rushed at my face. I stopped dead in my tracks. Inside, the chilling crimson ice flowers almost completely covered the frozen corner. In the corner lay the ashes of the thermal blanket I ordered burned. And in the center of this frozen blood, lay a stark, sickening pool of black blood. That was the dead blood a human mother bleeds only when she is drained of her life force from failing to gestate a vampire.

The eyes of a cold blooded murderer. The glint of metal catches the moonlight as he raises a gun, the barrel leveling directly at my chest. My stomach plummets and the world seems to slow, glimpses of a miserable life flashing before my eyes. My foot catches against something solid and warm in an attempt to flee, and I go down hard in the same moment he pulls the trigger.
