His cold eyes burned me with his fiery gaze as his cold voice boomed. "No!" I screamed as everything shattered. I could feel it, It felt like I could hear every action... Every detail. It's not possible, just my sick mind having my anxiety disorder mess with my sanity. Pills. I needed my pills. I was trying to force my mind out of it's insanity but it wasn't working. I was throwing and smashing things, having the sound of shattering ceramics ring in the room. My hard breaths were hitched as I groped both sides of my head, screaming with the aim of numbing the voices. "Make it stop!"

Anthony kept the pack of HIC ampoules back in the rack. HIC. Kayla hated that one the most now. Her eyes tarried on the pack of HIC medications. How could it have such side effects, yet Anthony was dying? Anthony was telling her about a particular medication called Philodaphine, but her mind tarried on that HIC. The medication whipped in emotions within her, both pain and irritation. Anthony was suffering, these meds were only adding to his suffering, which infuriated her. Unable to control her emotions, she took the pack of HIC ampoules from the shelf and let it slip off her hand. It shattered on the floor.

I leaned forward, pressing my face within inches of the reinforced glass partition separating the front cabin from the rear. "You want to save him? You want his head to stay 'quiet' and 'real' like you promised him on that decaying stage? Then you’ll walk into that facility and you’ll open that vault for me. Because inside is the final, unrefined serum. The one that will permanently keep the frequency from burning out his central nervous system. Without it, the neurological friction will take over. He has maybe six months before the silence he loves so much becomes an institutional coma. He will literally forget how to breathe because his brain stems will be fried."

She straightened her posture, cocking her head to the side like she was looking at a particularly pathetic stray dog. "You really are far gone, aren't you?" she said, her voice dropping the drunken slur for a moment of chilling clarity. "I initially thought you were just mentally unstable because of your pathetic life and the amount of pills you pop. But now? Looking at you, listening to these insane accusations... I’m convinced. You’re truly insane, Avina. With or without the drugs."

All wasted. Oops. "Who needs meds anyway?" I mutter under my breath. "Certainly not a terrifyingly powerful psycho alpha. Totally overrated." By the fourth one, I'm smiling. By the eighth, I'm cackling like a deranged banshee. Then I notice the pill bottles. They're tucked behind a mirror cabinet and labeled with names I can't pronounce. A few of them are cracked open and are half-used. There's even a bottle that says 'Stabilizer, 10 mg—Take after visions.'

She just had to find out what the fire was about. "Nahh. I like dicks. With brains." "How about we spill our little dirty secrets about dicks in Deff's Sauna." Sam quipped, smiling mischievously at Melinda. "I like your friend." Lois purred. The alcohol was working in her system now. "She's so care free and fun. I'm in." Lois began tapping away on her phone. "What are you doing?" Melinda cocked a brow at Lois. "Telling Fox not to bother coming to pick us up, calling an Uber to take us to Deff's Sauna."

“Let me.” I nearly sprinted to the common room and looked around erratically. I spotted the mage phone in the corner of the room. It was a deep blue pool that one was supposed to stick their head in and think of the person you wanted to talk to. Then, you’d be in their head. I jolted over to the mage phone and stuck my head in the water, completely unaware of what was going to happen next. All of the air was sucked out from me then spit back out. Ethan’s face slowly came into view.

The "Gold-Grey Static" from the CEO woman hit Silas Blackwood like a wave of conceptual acid. It wasn't the "Biological Remorse" he was used to; it was a "Synthetic Grief"—a simulated version of his own 30-year pride, amplified and distorted by the human’s unstable marrow. Silas fell to his knees on the white-glass floor, his gold-and-sapphire skin "glitching" as the human’s parasitic hunger tried to "Down-sample" his soul.

The dinning room slowly became rowdier as sisters trooped in, chatting and blessing each other, talking about the fast. Arghhh… I was fading slowly, the pain intensifying and mauling my insides. I lifted my head and saw a bun placed on a small plate in front of me. The priest had not yet come and I was on the verge of meeting the Lord. I couldn’t bear this anymore. The bum smelled divine and warmed my palms. I sunk my teeth into it and its sweetness blessed my tongue. Tears pricked my eyes and I felt the monster in my stomach weaken, his blows having less of an impact.

He was too busy scrolling on his phone, too wrapped up in whatever crisis had taken root in his screen to care that his wife was unraveling two feet away. My pulse thundered in my ears. I could feel the slick press of sweat threatening my palms, hidden by the polished stem of my glass. “You’re insane,” I muttered, anger lacing through the cracks in my whisper. I reached up, already moving to pull out the airpod, desperate for the silence, desperate to cut this invisible chain before it yanked me straight into hell. My fingers brushed it, relief, sweet relief just inches away from ending this insanity before it ruined me.
