I was late morning when Tristan entered the room pulling my head of the book, I looked at him in slight amazement. “We have the conference call in twenty minutes.” He greeted stepping into the room as I looked up. “What?” He asked and I held up the book. “Tristan, this book.” I stated not really knowing how to explain it. “It’s a novel, just a story that I found in the library, but it’s based on a family of werewolves, the two daughters, twins, were born with a special gift, they could produce fire and ice.” I uttered and watched as his brows rose. “They later became joint alphas of the their pack. I nodded and we made our way. “This place is huge.” I said, more to myself but open for her to comment on it. “That it is. Here is a library. Suddenly I saw the edge of a book or something that looks like a book under the bed. I immediately squatted down and pulled it out. It was a huge book that had the inscription 'Year book for Crowns middle school.' I became at alert, this was definitely something that would be useful to me. I flipped through the pages in haste, trying to look for the A section. Andrews, that was exactly what I was looking for. I couldn't find Hawk Andrews, but Xander J Andrews was written boldly on an half page, with the picture of a toothless baby Xander.

He held the study door open and she walked through it and they went down the corridor together toward the kitchen and the morning continued around them in its ordinary way, entirely unaware that something had just settled into its final shape in a quiet study in the early hours and would not be unsettled again. Arc One was finished the night Elara ran from a party. Arc Two was finished on a bench in a park in the rain. This arc finished here, in a study in the early morning, with a choice made plainly and received completely. The next one was already beginning.

Catalina’s POV. I was making Luca’s bed nice and neat, gently smoothing out the sheets while he was in the bathroom. The room was so still and quiet, which felt really different from all the thoughts racing around in my head. While I folded the blanket and set it neatly on the edge of the bed, I couldn’t help but notice the vanity table nearby. A piece of paper was there, a bit crumpled, with its edges curled from being held tightly. Feeling a bit curious, I picked it up and took a closer look at the drawing. A little boy with dark hair was holding hands with a blonde woman who had a bright, warm smile. A sleek black Maserati stood out in the background. My heart felt heavy.

“What do you mean ‘or so you thought’?” Kennedy asks again. My mom and all of our omegas not helping with the fire were sent to the packhouse for safety. “The former Alpha and Luna and your young warriors are not as helpless as we thought.” Finn smiles and if I didn’t know better, that was what he wanted his warriors to think.
