Darkness has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It has always been there, lurking in the shadows, watching me. Ever since the war broke out between the creatures and humans, darkness has been a persistent companion, protector, and guide. But this night was different. As I made my way through the darkness, I felt something else. Something that has never been there before. Something that has my heart beating a little faster and my skin crawling with unease. The darkness seems to be reaching out towards me. Almost as if it were trying to take me.

Then, with purpose, I tossed it into the trash can. The sharp, hollow clink of metal hitting the bottom echoed through the quiet night. The wind brushed against me, its chill settling over my skin. I looked out over the night view, where even the dimmest stars held a faint trace of light. Then, I turned and stepped back inside, closing the door behind me. In that moment, I felt a stillness I had never known. Everything in the past had finally fallen with the stars into endless darkness. And ahead of me, there lay countless possibilities that I could explore one by one.

“Then embrace it, my love,” he murmured, his voice a dark lullaby. “Let the darkness take hold, let it fill you with power.” I closed my eyes, surrendering to the sensations flooding my body. I could feel the shadows whispering to me, wrapping around my soul, urging me to give in completely. This was my twisted reunion with The Watcher—a bond forged in darkness, a love born from chaos. As the night wore on, I knew I was stepping further away from the light, deeper into the shadows where I could truly belong.

And as if waiting for me to say that, the lights go off, plunging us into absolute darkness. “Now, what the fuck is that?”

My vision was slowly turning dark until it was completely dark and I suddenly felt numb as if this was all just a dream. “I’m sorry it had to go down this way,” was the last thing I heard as darkness embraced me with welcoming arms.

And as I surrender to the darkness, I can only pray that someday the dawn will come and bring an end to the endless night. As the darkness threatens to consume me, a glimmer of hope pierces through the veil of despair, like a ray of sunlight breaking through storm clouds. At that moment of clarity, I feel a surge of warmth and light flood my mind, banishing the shadows of my nightmares and illuminating the darkness with the promise of a brighter future.

We tumble backward, the experience perversely familiar now as we fall back into the void, into the darkness. Into that new world. Leaving everything I love behind.

I let the weakness and pain in my bones swallow me completely until I was numb to them and I was falling back into the deep, endless pit of darkness. “We are losing her again!” A sharp voice pierced through the darkness in nothing but a whisper but I could feel the fear coated in the voice. “Stay with me,” It was begging for the impossible. I have lost every strength I had to fight. I just wanted it all to end. I was at peace. I had embraced the darkness and all its promises, not looking back. Not having any regrets.
