The impending doom had me paralyzed. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and continued moving forward. "You'll be fine, Eliana. You can make it," I whispered, trying to convince myself. I forced positive thoughts into my mind, refusing to succumb to despair. This time, I embraced the challenge of walking with my eyes shut, maintaining a brisk pace. I needed to reach the other side of the wolf pack, where I could find shelter for the night and continue my journey. In an instant, a towering mass of fur and softness materialized before me, resembling a tree adorned with lichens. As I pried open my eyes, a menacing pack of renegade wolves emerged, their sneers and smirks echoing in my ears.

“We’re here for a reason. We’ve come this far, and we can’t turn back now.” They pressed forward, the trees thinning as they ventured deeper into the wilderness. The pack moved in formation, their instincts sharp, aware of every rustle in the underbrush, every shift in the wind. They were still a family, bound together by their shared strength and purpose, but this land tested them in ways they hadn’t anticipated.

As for me, my wolf Jasper was restless, yearning for the comfort only a wild run couldovide. Stephanie reaches for me, desperation in her grip, as I storm through the packhouse’s front door. With a swift motion, I knocked her hand aside. Her drama is the last thing I need. Tears brim in her eyes, a silent plea I refuse to acknowledge. I whirl around, the door slamming with finality, its echo chasing me. As my form shifts into Jasper, my wolf spirit, we sprint into the embrace of the woods, our minds a tangled web yearning for solitude.

I closed my eyes and whispered; "For the last time...I pray and wish...to you to be back right here in my arms..." I covered my face with my hands trying to sooth myself and to erase the pain away but I stopped when I felt some growling of a wild animals nearby. Wait...is there a wild animals living here in Mount Everest? I blinked twice and tried to get up. My heart boomed loudly when I felt that it was coming towards me so without ado I get up myself and run away as fast as I could. I felt like someone is running after me so I tried so hard to run faster.

Yet, with each passing day, their resilience grew stronger, fueled by the collective desire to protect their family. Finally, after traversing treacherous landscapes and overcoming numerous challenges, the pack stumbled upon a hidden valley. It is a place untouched by winter's merciless grip — an oasis of life amidst the bleakness. Lush grasses swayed in the gentle breeze, and prey grazed freely without fear or scarcity. The pack's exhaustion evaporated as we beheld the bounty before us. Hope surged through their veins, reinvigorating their tired bodies. Zena's eyes glimmered with pride as she watched her pack mates feast upon the abundance that nature had provided.

I can’t afford to cut my focus because I might lose my chance to get my child back. I jump over a fallen log and duck under a hanging branch. My lungs are squeezing, and my breath is coming out in short spurts. I want to stop moving… I want to stand still and catch my breath. I can’t do that, I can’t stop. I find another burst of energy and push forward. I burst through a canopy of leaves and branches and find myself stumbling into an open field. Ahead, I see a group of wolves. They are facing the area I just came from, and they are on guard, teeth bared.

Chapter: 71 ****** ALTAIR: Hours passed, and the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple. The camp would soon be buzzing with night activities, but I couldn’t find the strength to return. I took a deep breath, allowing the quiet of the trees to envelop me, seeking comfort in the solitude. Just as I was about to rise and head back, I heard a rustle behind me. My heart raced, and I turned to see Talon stepping through the trees. He looked different, his expression serious, and for a moment, I felt a flicker of hope ignite within me.

“Show us what you’re made of.” And I’d gone. Stupid. Proud. Angry. So angry I couldn’t see straight. I should’ve known better. But at twelve, all I had was instinct and something brittle inside me I refused to let them break. So I followed, deeper and deeper into the trees, the sunlight thinning out above me like water through a sieve. I thought we were just hiking. Just proving a point. I didn’t notice when the laughter stopped. I didn’t notice the silence. I turned to say something—some smug one-liner, maybe—and they were gone. Just gone. Shifted into their wolves and bolted, leaving me alone in rogue territory before I even realized what had happened.
