With a thundering growl my dad jumps on the boulders blocking the entrance and starts digging them out with his paws. He is desperate to get to his mate and soon the other guys join him. I glance at the unconscious girl in my arms then carefully carry her away from the mayhem.

She has just gone for a run that it that is all it is. I call my soon to be beta, Bradley since I trust him with my life, I know he was not the best with Kayla to start with but that was only because he did not know who she was, and he thought she was just a horse. Bradley meets me near the forest, and I tell him what has happened and just that we need to find Kayla I have a bad feeling. Bradley suggests that she is just somewhere on the territory, and we head of.

So, I move forward knowing that they will not follow me and they will not make a drama because I give up in record time, the man that the moon sent for me. In the distance I hear screams and howls, but I don't stop. I want to free myself from the chains that I see so far and therefore, I disappear into the forest without caring that there are wild animals with more strength or bigger than me. My heart is pounding, and I whimper knowing that I have no place to return to or seek refuge. I curse that I have fallen for a deception and assure myself that I am not going back, even if I must sleep in the forest and eat like a wild animal.

I lunged for the door, threw it open, and sprinted into the night. I ran until my lungs burned like fire. I ran until my legs felt like jelly. I didn't look back. I crashed through tall grass and tripped over hidden roots. Finally, I collapsed behind a thick cluster of bushes. I looked around. I was in a dark forest. In the distance, I could see the faint glow of streetlights. The road. Freedom was right there. I stood up to run, but then I heard footsteps. Two men were walking along a dirt path just a few feet away. I pressed myself into the dirt, praying the shadows would hide me.

Chapter 7 The moonlight filtered through the thick canopy of trees, though this helped me find my path clearly, it didn't help that I'll be in the spotlight, so some rogue or beast may prey on me. Nonetheless, I continued running, with 3ach step, my paws pounded against the dirt, carrying me deeper into the wilderness. The wind whipped through my fur, carrying with it the scents of the forest—damp earth, sharp pine, and the distant scent of the pack, growing fainter with each passing moment.

Chapter 16 I kept running, my legs carrying me faster than I thought possible. I had no idea where I was going, and I didn’t care. All that mattered was the wildness inside me, the pull of my wolf, and the freedom of the forest. Every sound was sharper, every scent clearer than ever before. My heart pounded in rhythm with my strides, I looked up at the moon and I let out a long, trembling howl. A few other howls answered, distant and wild and it made me feel less alone, more connected to this side of myself I didn’t yet understand.
