The eerie noises enveloped us again, and I gripped tightly on the boy's hand—together— rising from the ground. ~~ It was barely my third day in the wild and I had barely had any good sleep or rest. As we finally walked away from the river and it's environ, I felt my stomach start to hurt and my throat, growing intensely dry. My feet started to feel numb and my vision began to blur. But I stood gallant, not succumbing to the whispers of the wild I believe. The boy's smile made be realize I couldn't back down. He has been such a strong, young lad for coming this far without breaking down despite his intense need for water.

Chapter 1: THE LONE WOLF It was early morning, when Phillip, the Alpha of the Black Moon Pack, strolled through the forest, the aroma of pine and freshly fallen snow filled the air. The atmosphere was soothing and encouraged someone to walk tirelessly. The sunrise casts soft yellow light as it breaks through the clouds, illuminating a calm and peaceful scene. It was a fresh winter morning. He cherished the tranquility and serenity of the forest as he inspected his territory's borders. As he went, the snow crunched beneath his boots, and he felt a sensation of serenity sweep over him.

I mutter. "Okay I'm done but you got me hooked so you have to keep reading," she laughs, moving to sit beside me. I nod and skip ahead a few pages until I reach chapter one. I take a deep breath and start reading, my voice changing almost instantly. "My lungs burned with each panting breath as I sprinted across the rocky slope of the mountain. My body ached with fatigue and the landscape was starting to blur, but I kept pushing myself as the voices behind me grew louder. I stumbled a bit on the rocks, but immediately got up and continued clambering over the boulders.

I mutter several highly unflattering things about hills under my breath as I climb. By the time I reach the top, my legs are burning, aching and terribly exhausted. Sweat clings to the back of my neck. And for the first time since entering the Wilds, I realize something equally important. I'm tired. Tired enough to know that continuing without a proper sense of direction would be incredibly stupid. The Wilds are dangerous. Walking aimlessly through them is probably an excellent way to die. And I don't plan to die. At least, not today.
