I swallowed hard. “But then,” She continued, her voice dropped to a hiss, “you opened your mouth, and I realized that this isn’t about killing her anymore, is it?”

I accept it. “Pleasure to finally meet you, Roland.” “Yes, of course. My mom asked me to talk with Diana.” “Of course. Celine!” Rachel calls. A moment later, a teenage girl appears. “Can you get your sister? Let her know she has a visitor.” “She won’t come down, Mom, you know that.” Her words are for her mother, but her eyes are on me. When Raven had breakfast with his father-in-law this morning, he asked to see a picture of Jezton, though he knew Azzmi should never find out. To be honest, he was extremely disappointed when he saw Jezton’s picture. That was the guy Azzmi had been in love with? We walked in to see Raven sat on the bed with Zach behind her, combing and drying her hair for her. When did he turn into this guy? “What do you want?” Raven growled out. “My dear daughter, I just came to show you that you are still my pumpkin, and I will have your back no matter what.”

The firm, serious tone of his voice takes place of the false friendliness he’s spoken in this entire time. “What makes you think I could even get the Moonstone for you?” I ask, curious about what he knows. Tsking at me, “Raven, I know you can, because from my understanding that is your charge. Is it not your duty to protect that stone? Two days Raven, don’t fail Rafe now.” A slip of my control lets my wolf take over. Shifting in mid-jump, she leaps forward, but with a sickly smile, Duncan disappears into what must be a portal before we can reach him.
