Then slowly, I looked back at Rey and something inside me went completely still.
I stepped forward. “You touched her,” I said quietly. My voice didn’t sound like mine anymore.
Rey stood where she was, unshaken. “She is my daughter,” she replied.
Daughter? And you hurt her? I didn't know what to think or feel anymore, but that word hit me.
“You hurt your daughter? Is that it?” I barked, my eyes devoid of emotions.
I moved closer to her, but she stood her ground. I chuckled because I could see the fear in her eyes, but she just wouldn't admit it.
