The once haunted house now seemed to emit a sense of comfort and joy, as if a beacon of light had chased away the lingering shadows. In the main lounge, James couldn't hide his wonder as he exclaimed, "Wow! You haven't decorated the place for Christmas in ages." The room was vast, dominated by an enormous Christmas tree. The tree was adorned with exquisite glass baubles, glimmering in the soft light. At its pinnacle, a beautiful porcelain angel stood proudly. Placing our wrapped gifts under the tree, I noticed a fleeting moment of sadness cross James' face as he gently touched one of the tree's branches, his gaze fixed upon the angel.

Nathan doesn't mind, he keeps grinning like an idiot. When Damian and Cole get back they load the shopping in the boot of the car and Nathan tells them about me touching him. They both are excited and proud of me which makes me feel a little awkward but I'm happy. We get home and start putting up decorations. Me and Cole put up the fake tree which takes too much assembling but it eventually gets finished. Cole makes sure I put the red and gold baubles in the right places and I let him put the star on top. When everything else is decorated, we stand back and turn on the lights. It's actually very pretty. Maybe this Christmas will be different from the rest.
