he murmured.
I turned and pecked him on the lips before he leaned closer to kiss Cara’s forehead.
“What are you doing to her hair?” he asked.
“I’m braiding it,” I said, looking back down. I noticed I had missed a strand and gently loosened the braid to start again. “I saw it online and thought it would look good on Cara.”
Cara beamed, clearly happy, and tried to touch the braid with her fingers.
“Well, it’s not bad,” Jerald muttered. “You’re doing a great job. I’m heading to the office now. I need to deal with the investment stuff today so I can finally focus on finding out who’s responsible for trying to kill my daughter.”
