The volume of the blaring music has been reduced but it's still quite loud. "Jesse Linkard! It's you!" Dax is starstruck. He worships the ground footballers walk on. "I thought Josh was lying when he said you're his cousin," Dax shakes Jesse's hand so hard. "But, it's you! I'm a huge fan!" Josh rolls his eyes. He's not into football. Just basketball. "You!" Jesse is startled to see me. He remembers me. Jesse hugs me tightly, shocking everyone. "You look gorgeous!"

“Fine. Then wait here.” He turned back to Dex, ignoring Jaden’s presence entirely. “Sorry about him.” Dex chuckled. “You two seem close.” Kai snorted. “We go to the same school. He’s just my tutor. And a persistent pain.” “Oh, then I don’t want to intrude on his break,” Dex said. “Let’s exchange numbers. Maybe we can hang out without him next time.” Kai lit up. “That sounds great.” They exchanged numbers. Jaden’s expression went blank-angry-confused-livid all at once. A whole slideshow of rage.

Jenna replied acting like an important person. Adam raised one of his eyebrows. "List?" he could imagine how many lists of conditions Jenna would come up with. Jenna waved her hand, "Just a little!" Adam nodded, then reached out for Jenna to shake her hand. "So we're going to sign the contract marriage. DEAL?" said Adam firmly. Jenna was silent for a moment, then shook Adam's hand confidently. Jesse’s mouth gapes open. “Wow, you’re a giant.” He states honestly. “When I grow up, I want to be as tall as you. Do you play video games?”

"Tell that to Jaden and his photogenic effect. He feeds off this attention." He wasn't mistaken. Jaden drank in the limelight. He was meant for it. The next afternoon, Meadow and I are in the shop with Jesse, who is now a permanent fixture in my life. I hear the bell on the door ring and Reagan walks in holding up a credit card. “Look what I got from Xander! Time to shop for our trip, Meadow!” she sings as she walks in the door.
