From then our friendship started. Anyone can ask me why I don't like him. But that's not true. I like him. I really do. I just don't like him in a romantic way. There is no doubt he is handsome. Many girls have crush on him. Even a girl who was six years younger than him, once sent him love letters for a whole year. Jake plays cello. He plays basketball as a shooting guard. He's respectful to his parents. He has his own library consists of five thousand books. He's hot. He can speak in six different languages. In my word, he's a freak. But others think, he's perfect.

Emma said, opening Harper's with a snap. "Nor'd I," he said, grinning. "My brothers, I got five of 'em and I'm the young'un of the bunch, been trying for years t' encourage my education. Took me around t', well, sportin' houses, if you know what I mean." "Sir, please!" But thrills were racing, racing in her. She wasn't half convinced this was real, and thought she must have fallen asleep after all to be dreaming this conversation. Started his gaming company at twelve, now he builds robots, planes, all kinds of stuff.” Leo nods. “That’s impressive.” Then he smirks at me. “And you went for the broke brother?” Georgia snorts, laughing. “C’mon, guys. Jake’s not a billionaire, but he’s amazing too. Gee, you know he is,” I defend him. “Yeah, whatever,” she mutters, rolling her eyes. I think about unblocking Jake. It must’ve been a misunderstanding. Jake wouldn’t take my calls while getting head from his best friend right?

And I just sat there, silent, watching them. Torn between the past and the future. Between what I wanted. And what they deserved. They finished their plates soon after, syrup sticking to their hands and cheeks. Jake licked his fingers and giggled. "Mama! Can we go watch Paw Patrol now? Please please pleaaaase?" Kate asked, hopping out of her chair. Blake jumped up, nearly knocking his juice over. "Yeah! It’s the new one! The pirate one!" Jake slid off his seat with his blanket dragging behind. After Gabriella narrated everything, Jake sighed and asked, “Can you do me a favor?” “Sure, little brother. Spit it out,” said Gabriella with a chuckle. “Can you help me with your friend's contact, please?” “Which friend are you talking about, Jake?” “Hmm… The young man who you were together with on the day we celebrated the full blue moonlight,” he announced. “Ohh, you mean Julian?” “Correct. He is the one I'm referring to. Help me with his contact.” “What do you need it for?” Gabriella curiously asked, feeling unsettled. Something was telling her that Jake needed Julian's contact for something evil, nonetheless, she wasn't convinced about what he needed it for.

I said pointing to Jake. "Me?" Why not Kai or Nick?" he inquired. "Yeah why not any of us?" Kai countered with a raised eyebrow as he folded his hands across his chest. I sighed, "you seem trustworthy with your dimples and big doe like eyes." Kai scowled, "I'm trustworthy too you know." "Definitely are," Nick said as he patted him on the shoulder. Jake just laughed at his friend and walked to the white motorcycle before slinging his left leg over to the other side. "The dimples man, it's all about them," he said as he continued laughing.

"No. No way my dad would do that." "He did," Jake cut me off. "And he's not going to let me leave until you agree to come back to the city with me. Because," his voice dropped, "everything isn't safe here." "Safe?" I laughed. "What makes you think that?" Jake's expression darkened. "Let's start with your weird friends. Especially that guy yesterday - Darryl. Did you see how he looked at me? He almost killed me. Those eyes..." He shook his head. "You have some seriously weird and dangerous friends.”

And when Friday hits, we like to come back to my house to get away from all the pack members and the noise that comes with it. Dad only brought Emmett up once, and that was enough. As far as he’s concerned, “he’s dead to him.” Jake made sure I got a new number after buying me a new phone. Tonight we’re celebrating Jake’s birthday. At midnight, he gets his wolf and then we’ll all go for a run. I won’t get my wolf for another week, but Jake says I can ride on his back. My best friend Leah gets to ride on her boyfriend Allred’s back, too.

Drake stopped at the door, his hands on his hips as he looked around. Jake moved to extend his hand to him. “Hey, buddy. Thanks for coming.” He turned and pointed to Kari. “This is my girlfriend, Kari. Her friends Sicily and Lisa.” Lisa smiled and waved flirtatiously, forever a redhead. Sicily stared a bit longer than she might have realized. Jake moved Drake over to the pile of supplies and picked up a brush. “We’re just doing the base coat now. Pick a place to get rolling and let’s go. We’ll try and do two coats before we break for the day.”

I ask when he grabs his car keys. "To Nate's we're going out to watch the basketball game together." "Cool, Uhnmm let me go with you. Haven't hang out with Jake alone for a while." I say. My brother's best friend Nate happens to be Jake's older brother one of the many reasons Jake and I became friends. Jake and I have known each since we were babies. And now he's Zack's best friend and Paula's boyfriend. We drive to Jake's house and head inside. "The most beautiful girl in the whole of L.A," Nate says high fiving me.
