That vase had been something we’d constructed together, and our initials were carved into the base. Adrian rushed forward, gripping my arm. Ethan nodded. “Yes.” Jun exhaled. “No final speech?” “No.” “No big message?” Ethan shook his head. “No.” Jun smiled slightly. “Kind of disappointing.” Ethan laughed softly. “Only if you think stories need endings,” he said. Jun looked at him. “What if they don’t?” Ethan turned back toward the city. “Then they become something else.” Jun raised an eyebrow. “Like what?” Ethan watched the movement below. The conversations.
