​Chapter 31 ​VAREEN ​I couldn't stop myself. I walked over to Jaydee, and although I saw the surprise on both of their faces, I ignored it. ​"Jaydee!" I called out to him just before he could step onto the stairs. ​"Yesss??" he asked with a smile. ​"T-the tattoo on your right leg..." ​"What about his tattoo?" I heard Jayce ask. ​"It means... Dark Nefarious, right?" I asked.

I wanted this tattoo to represent both parts of him, and that's why I asked Madeline to draw his wolf's eyes blue. I wanted to do something special for Jarek, and what more special could be than to have his wolf as a tattoo on my body? I want to reveal my tattoo when we will take the next step and complete our mate bond. This tattoo will be a symbol of my love and loyalty not only towards him but his wolf as well. Closing my eyes, I think about Jarek tuning out the pain as Madeline starts working on the tattoo. It is not going to be a big tattoo, just a medium-sized one on my nape. But it requires a lot of details, so it will take some time to finish.

Then the black tee. Elena watched, mesmerized. Without the suit or the hoodie, the full extent of his ink was visible. A massive vulture was tattooed across his back, its wings stretching to his shoulders. Scars—some from blades, some from bullets—marred his bronze skin like a map of a violent life. "You're staring again, sweetheart," Julian said, stepping toward her. He looked like a pagan god of war. "I've never seen so much of you," she whispered.

She crossed her arms over her chest and stood glaring at him. She wanted to play it this way, did she? Fine. He dumped the clothes on the pallet and glared back. Removing his sage green Henly, he bared his broad, well-muscled chest and arms. He let her take in his clan's distinctive wolf tattoo covering his left shoulder. Runes of protection adorned his impressive torso, climbing up from the flat plains of his stomach to the slabs of hardened muscle covering his ribs. As he dropped the shirt to the ground, he saw the hint of her pink tongue come out to moisten her lips.

Battered hands, inked with tattoos: MAMA on his knuckles, a dove, and more ink disappearing beneath his tank top. Another man chuckles under his breath. “She stays, maybe we talk more,” Green Eyes says. I glance at Angelo. His face is stone. “She’s not payment,” Nate growls, fighting back the urge to stand. “Oh, come on. She’s a gift to the room,” another pipes up. “You sure you don’t want to share?” “Ettiene,” Angelo warns, voice low and lethal. But Green Eyes doesn’t stop. Maybe it’s just me or maybe I’m naive but I didn’t expect this from a man with MAMA tattooed all over his skin. Then again, what do I expect from unethical thugs?

Across my entire back, from shoulder to hips, was the flaming image of a phoenix. The tattoo was incredible, and I knew the magic Gerald possessed played a large role in the tattoo. The colors were bright against my pale skin. Shimmering shades of scarlet, orange, yellow, and gold intertwined and mixed within the spread wings of the phoenix. What surprised me most were its eyes. They were a brilliant shade of green, an exact replica of my own. Just as I pulled on my t-shirt, Gerald came back into the tent. I watched as he cleaned the surrounding area and tidied up his work station.

It took us so long to get her back, I was dreading losing her, but I wouldn’t keep her in the dark about it. Walk into the room and see Joker with a new tattoo on his forearm; it appears to be a symbol and a pattern of something ancient. Something you would think a warrior would choose for himself for protection. All of his tattoos made no sense to anyone but Joker. I doubt anyone would be brave enough to question him. Glancing over at Queenie, I see her left forearm has black lace starting to connect the empty spaces to complete her sleeve. It looked so real, like you could pick it up off her skin.

When we’d gotten back, Justin had gotten a tattoo of a barn owl on his left bicep, and he’d had them weave in the letter S on its wing. Leaning in closer, I slide the sleeve of his t-shirt up so I can see it, making him laugh around his forkful of casserole. Every time I see it, it makes my heart skip a beat. The muscled bicep certainly doesn’t hurt. I trace my finger along the S and feel his body still next to mine.

"Don't get me wrong, all your tattoos are amazing—but I can stare at those three for hours, I just love looking at them." "Good to know since I drew those as well as the rocket on my right thigh..." Fun fact, her rocket ship one was the tattoo that Green Ranger had a mini version of on her left ribs. "My sister might've changed a few things, but all things considered, those four are still 'my mind vomit.'" "You're brilliant." She grinned. "Hm, you know what? Fuck it, I can have favorites, too. So, yeah, it's a tie between the one on my back, and Scylla and Charybdis."
