I dropped, breathing heavily. Jhelani stared at me. Shaken. I knew we had to break the truth to her sooner or later. But words weren’t enough. Not for this. “Wait,” I muttered, my throat tight. Before she could step back, I caught her hand and turned so my back faced her. My fingers shook as I tugged my leather jacket down, exposing the ridge of my shoulder blades. The moonlight shone over the ink carved into my skin, her name etched along the line of my spine. Jhelani. Drawn in a hidden spot where no one else could see, except the one it belonged to.

Wait, scratch that, it could melt iron. It was smooth, deep, and reached my soul. “Oh.” I said, “Must be nice.” “Must be nice that they don’t care about me?” He quipped.

Across my entire back, from shoulder to hips, was the flaming image of a phoenix. The tattoo was incredible, and I knew the magic Gerald possessed played a large role in the tattoo. The colors were bright against my pale skin. Shimmering shades of scarlet, orange, yellow, and gold intertwined and mixed within the spread wings of the phoenix. What surprised me most were its eyes. They were a brilliant shade of green, an exact replica of my own. Just as I pulled on my t-shirt, Gerald came back into the tent. I watched as he cleaned the surrounding area and tidied up his work station.

And… with an infinity symbol. Around it, connected. Something that… shows she’s always with me.”

He looked enticing with his furrowed brows and serious pout. What the heck, girl?! I mentally pinched myself as I tried to avoid the fact that Jordan himself was wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. I tried my best not to look, but I couldn’t help but stare at the tattoo on his back. It was a full scale dragon - I noticed that the end of its tail could be found on the base of his nape, its body running down the length of his spine then going around his right hip, its head disappearing just beside his crotch.

Merigold and Ailee have those girls whipped into shape and they rarely cause any problems now. Two hours from the time Tank started he was wiping off Ailee’s tattoo removing any excess ink.
