At her feet, there were four books. All written by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice. Sense and sensibility. Persuasion. Emma. She had another book open in her hands, and when she looked up at me, flashing me a smile that showed off her perfect pearly white teeth, my heart skipped. She was angelic. A letter lay on the table in the foyer and Jane glanced at it. She picked it up with shaky hands and ripped the envelope open. It felt thick. Thick was good, right? Then off he went to work and Jane breathed a sigh of relief. The buzzing in her ear had lessoned to some extent and she went about rearranging her room and throwing out the unused boxes and was just about done by noon when she saw the last box laying unobtrusively on the carpeted floor.
