He stares at the shut door of the study and moves on downstairs with an emotionless face. Downstairs, Jane chews down her food with her mind else where, which was what the two were talking about. She hears the footsteps of Edward and she quickly turns in his way. She sees him coming down, and she quickly stretches her head out to have a look. However, she didn’t expect to meet Edward’s cold and stern gaze. Jane freezes for a moment and wanted to lower her head, but it was too late. Edward walks towards her and the first he asks her is,

"To everyone who has ever wanted something they weren't supposed to want." I turned the page and started reading. The first chapter was about a woman meeting her fiancé's father for the first time. She was nervous, standing in front of the mirror in her yellow sundress, wondering if the neckline was modest enough and if the hem was too short and if he would approve of her. The fiancé was cheerful and oblivious, telling her not to worry because his father would love her. He had no idea what was coming and neither did she. Then the father opened the door and everything changed.

*** THE YEAR 1991 *** Jane was still writing down on the paper she had been holding since last night. Paul gave it to her as a gift and she wondered what she will write on that clean piece of paper. Her father was still on the farm, weeding some seeds from the ground, and Jane was looking farther than she thought. She sat down on the stool beside the bed she had been lying down earlier and wrote down the first sentence that came through her mind. "When the first time I saw you, I thought I saw something strange."

I looked around, searching for Kealey. I heaved a sigh and smiled in relief when I saw Kealey. She was sitting on a bench. I ran towards her. Chapter 1: The Phoenix Rises Emilia's eyes snapped open, her gaze piercing through the darkness. The memories came flooding back, like a tidal wave crashing against the shores of her mind. The fire, the screams, the feeling of helplessness as her world burned to ashes. She rose from the bed, her movements fluid and calculated. The past was etched on her face, a map of scars and determination. Emilia's gaze fell upon the mirror, and for a moment, she saw the girl she once was – innocent, naive, and full of hope.

Raven sat at the table with the volume open, yet she could not seem to concentrate. She read the first line, then, read it again, and still it refused to penetrate her brain. If her companion noticed her restlessness, he gave no outward indication. Sitting by the fire, he methodically
