Theodore I jolt up in bed, my heart racing and my body drenched in cold sweat as I frantically scan the room, convincing myself I am free from the nightmare. As the familiar features of the room comes into focus, my pounding heart calms down and fear quickly gives way to frustration. Here I was thinking that after the hectic past few days I just had I would finally be able to get a good night's rest. "Apparently fucking not," I say to my dark room through clenched jaws as I run my hands through my hair.

Shock frizzles through me, and I’m too scared to move, too scared to breathe, too scared to tear my eyes from the hard body. But I do; not because I’ve overcome my fear, but because he’s both familiar and unfamiliar. I trail my gaze upward, from his chest to his neck, to his… There’s no face. It’s just…nothing. I yell at the top of my lungs but the sound is muffled, backing away as I fall on my bum so hard pain shoots up my spine. I rise from my sleep with a jolt, my heart beating erratically underneath my chest, beads of sweat coating my forehead and my pink pajama set damp despite the air conditioner.

Claire. I wake with a gasp, my heart slamming against my ribs. I'm sitting bolt upright, tangled in the sheets, sweat soaking through my shirt. For a moment, I don't know where I am. The room is dark, the shadows unfamiliar, and I'm disoriented, my mind still caught in the web of the nightmare. I hear my own breathing, ragged and too loud, and I press my hand against my chest, trying to slow it down.

I said hugging them both and went to my room, which was upstairs. I was excited about tomorrow because there was a school trip and I loved travelling. My eyes were tired after doing so many algebra sums and all I wanted now was to sleep. I quickly changed my clothes and got comfortable in my blanket. Before I knew it I was fast asleep. After a few hours, I woke up with a jerk. I am a very deep sleeper I never wake up in the middle of the night. I felt absolutely dreadful and my heart was beating wildly. It was similar to the feeling I felt when death was near but this was much much worse. I felt sick and my head felt heavy. Something was definitely wrong.

Andrea abruptly woke up in the middle of the night, unable to move every part of her body except for her eyes. For a slight moment, she was struck with panic. Oxygen was slowly leaving her body as she struggled to breathe. She quickly closed her eyes, knowing that any minute by now, shadows in the room would turn into hallucinations. She had just gotten used to sleeping in a dark room and this had to happen.

Kaden had just woken up from sleep because of the nightmare he had. A really bad one that made his heart race so fast and his chest constrict in fear. His breathing was loud and uneven, his body trembling with anxiety. He couldn’t even tell what exactly it was that was making him so uneasy.

"You're just giving me trouble!" A man jumped up from a deep sleep, when suddenly the nightmare returned to his sleep. The words seemed to be spinning around his head. Sweat clearly poured down the man's body, the roar of his breath sounded very loud and irregular, his heartbeat seemed to jump out, because it was beating so hard. The man's chest grew tight. "Argh !!" Shouted the man.

Eun-Hee shifts her position while sleeping. She is feeling restless because of the nightmare. Her breath becomes uneasy. When her breathing becomes irregular and she can hear her heartbeat echoing loudly in her ears, she wakes up immediately from the nightmare. She sits up and looks around to find her surroundings. It takes her a moment until she realises where she is and she lays back down to try to get back to sleep. Her chest tightens a bit when she remembers the dream she was having earlier. She tries to close her eyes again but they keep on opening despite her wishes.

Curled in Colton’s arms in bed, my head laid on his chest as I listen to that steady rhythm of his heartbeat, I doze in and out of peaceful and contented slumber. Something keeps waking me when I start to fall deeply, and I can’t seem to put my finger on it. Like a dream or a feeling that’s just out of sight and seems to jump in to haul me back whenever my consciousness drifts away. An unease or a threatening nightmare maybe, it’s definitely a sense of unease and try as I might, I can’t seem to fall into blissful darkness for any length of time. It’s almost dawn and I have barely dozed for more than twenty-minute slots at a time. I’m frustrated and exhausted, yet I can’t seem to rest.

I wait a few more seconds for him to answer, the door opens just as I was about to get out of bed. I release a breath I didn’t know I was holding. My heart is beating so fast I can hear it in my ears. I had a flash of the night I woke up in my bed and he wasn’t there. I need to learn to not freak out when I wake up and he’s not there. I don’t want to die young of a heart attack. “Hey.” He says walking to the bed. He smiles at me and I master a smile even though I feel like shit. This is an emotional experience for me and I don’t know how I’m going to deal with it all.
