An excellent one to be precise and that was what had kept him employed. In the seat beside him was a woman. She had long, blonde hair that when allowed to move with gravity, neared her waist. She was dressed in a silvery gown and looked like a queen. What she lacked though, was a crown on her head and three dozen guards watching her every step. She was Sarah, Harold's stepmother. In the seats behind the driver and Sarah was Harold and someone who was bound to make his next two years in Golden Lake University more miserable; Maximus (or Max for short).

"It's Jasmine." I grunt. Another set of shoes grew closer, and I sucked in the air when I found Liam wearing nothing but denim jeans, gardening gloves, and a small shovel. One hand is covered in dirt and sweat. Just by looking at him, I'm getting hot and bothered. I have to breathe in and out to calm my nerves. It's been a long time since Liam, and I looked face to face without scowling away from the feelings we had. I know he has feelings. I wonder why he would set it aside as if he doesn't. I'm figuring out why he would treat me like this.

Writer’s POV With Rosa gone, Jasmine was left alone in the school where she wandered into the library, ignoring the people there and walked down to drop the book she had borrowed. As she exited the library, her arms wrapped around her backpack as she made her way toward her next class. She barely saw Fidelia until it was too late. "Hey there, Jasmine," Fidelia purred, her voice smooth like silk soaked in poison. Jasmine stiffened. “Fidelia.”

She needed to remind herself. Caitlin walked over to the desk and sat on the small, medieval chair. She lit a candle, and it illuminated the worn pages of her journal. She turned them back slowly, as the brittle pages made a soft, crackling noise. In the candlelight, she picked up the pen, rested her forehead in one hand, and began to write. * How did I get here? And where is here, exactly? I don’t even know anymore. I’m in a room, at the top of a tower, on some remote island, on some huge river. I feel like a fairy princess. Except, my prince charming has just left me.

Even the fish seem to swim closer to where she sits, as though drawn to her mere presence. Jasmine, blissfully unaware of the peculiarity, laughs softly. “It’s like I’m some kind of animal whisperer,” she jokes when she catches me staring. I offer a faint smile but don’t respond. She doesn’t realize the weight of what she’s said. Once she retreats inside for the night, I step into the library. The shelves are packed with ancient tomes and scrolls collected over centuries, their secrets waiting to be unraveled. I’ve delved into these records countless times, searching for anything that could help me understand Jasmine’s nature.

*** Jasmine’s POV I was so shock that I found the very same man who I bumped in to this morning is actually the very same Joseph Fransisco, whom I am going to meet for the meeting today. Not just some unimportqnt meeting, but his company is actually what I have been looking for to work together with, not to even mention that he has just opened up a new branch in the new york, if my company got to work with his , then it can boost my company too. Of course I would do anything just to have his company work with my company. And now the arrogant Joseph Fransisco had just asked me to become his fake girlfriend, what is this?

CHAPTER SIX Jasmine spent her morning at the bookstore rearranging the new arrivals. The work gave her a sense of satisfaction, even if it was tiring. Her life had taken on a steady rhythm, and she welcomed the predictability. But just as the day seemed to be passing uneventfully, an unexpected visitor shattered her calm. The bell above the door jingled, and Jasmine glanced up from the counter. Her hands froze mid-motion. Lucas stood there, looking out of place among the stacks of books.

I nodd, then head to Jesamine’s door, Deidre waving a vague goodbye as she returns to the papers in her hand and walks down another corridor. “Hey Deidre?” She stops and looks over her shoulder, waiting. “Have you heard of Nyllan’s Theoretical Text, Volume 3?” She turns now, a bemused look on her face. “I beg your pardon?” “Have you ever heard of the book? Or the author?” She scrunches her face in concentration. “Not that I can recall, why?” I push open the door and wave her off. “Nevermind.” I find that Jesamine is already out of her bed and waiting impatiently. “You’re late.”

Jasmine’s POV The rain had slowed down, and the thunder was not so loud anymore. I was still in the living room, curled on the couch with my favorite blanket and a fantasy romance book in my hands. The title was Zodiac Academy. I had just gotten to the part where everything was getting heated — The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac — and I couldn’t put it down. I was fully inside that world, far away from the thunder outside or the weird tension in this house.

For a brief moment, the world felt soft again. Jasmine was still arranging the shelves when she suddenly caught sight of a book. Her brows pulled into a tight knit. She had never seen this book before. It didn’t belong. Curiosity pulled her hand forward. She reached for it, and when she tugged it out, the cover revealed itself—a romance novel. Jasmine froze, lips twitching slightly in disbelief. Her brows tugged even deeper, as if her face didn’t quite know how to process what she was holding. Her aunt? Romance? The two didn't quite fit into the same category.
