Andrea smiled, the disdain in her eyes even more obvious than it was a few seconds ago, she practically flung Halle’s hand away, probably not expecting her to take it. “Well, I only learned of your existence today but it is nice to meet you,” Halle lied, it was definitely not nice to meet her. The woman made her insecurities skyrocket to new heights and she hated it! “Of course you did, Xavier finds it hard to talk about me…seeing how close we were and how everything ended but I plan to get him back, reconcile and make things go back to the way things were,” What? “How sad it would be if he died without us finally accepting the love we still have for each other,”

But as one week turned into ten days, the immediate fear began to settle into a low, constant hum. Jax’s knife wound had closed into a raised, angry scar. He still favored his side when he moved, but he could walk without limping. His burns had faded to pink, sensitive skin. Lena could walk the length of the compound with only a slight limp, though she tired quickly. Hazel threw herself into the garage, modifying motorcycles and mixing chemicals, trying to outrun the memory of the man she had killed. Nightmares still came. On the eighth night, Hazel woke screaming, clawing at the air. In the dream, the Reaper’s eyes wouldn’t close. They stared at her while blood poured from his chest.

Acantha apologizes very soon because she knows his son is having a hard time as a Beta in the pack. “Is there any medical treatment we can do to this woman who is faint?” he asked his mother instead. The carriage moved forward, pulling us along with it on the dirt road.
