Evelynn POV Blood hit the ground before the first breath finished leaving my lungs. Jaxon moved like he’d been waiting his entire life for this moment. He was fast, brutal, laughing under his breath as his blades carved through the first creature’s throat. It didn’t fall clean. None of them did. The thing shrieked, voice splitting into layers, clawing forward even as black ichor poured from the wound. “Yeah.” Jaxon muttered, ducking under a swipe that would’ve taken his head off. “You’re definitely worse than the last batch.”

“Kindly put that shirt back on. This is not a strip show.” Brad ignored her and moved towards Jaxon. “Hey buddy,” Jaxon said, doing a bro handshake with him. The door sprang open, and Xander lurched from where he was at the abruptness. His jaw slackened, and his eyes bulged as he saw what they were against. “Holy crap!" He cussed. “Don't worry; far worse is coming.” Jaxon chuckled. “That is so encouraging,g,” Xander murmured sarcastically. “Do you still want to fight?" Sparkles asked, not taking her eyes off the approaching girl about her age.

The courtyard is soon filed with our members, who are all on their knees, mourning their Luna, their savior. I don’t think my heart can break anymore when a tinny voice speaks, “Mother.” Xaden shows up with Xylon, who excitedly runs to us. I feel like I have been punched hard on my stomach when Xaden drops on his knees and weeps. He has seen Ryan and can see Xena in my arms. Xylon on the other side is in his own world. He is too small to understand. He happily runs to us and crawls over Xena, who is on my lap and sits on her lap and babbles about playing peek-a-boo.
