Jeremi leaned back, his tone sharp. “Jeremiah, I assume we’re not here to discuss my wife’s past?”
Jeremiah’s smirk deepened slightly. “A convent,” he repeated. “That explains… a lot.”
“What do you mean by that?” Jeremi’s tone carried an edge.
“Oh, nothing at all,” Jeremiah replied smoothly. “Just that she seems… untouched by the chaos of this city. That kind of serenity doesn’t come from nowhere.”
