Her subordinates then began dragging Hallie away. Seeing this, Mila felt her right eyelid twitch slightly. If the issue wasn’t handled well, Hallie’s life could very well be in danger. Though Mila agreed that Hallie needed to be taught a lesson, what Jessica had proposed was simply too cruel for her.

'I think the backside to the library, although I’m not very certain' she answers looking around I join her and examine the place. The place was still filled with a few cobwebs here and there and a huge rack of books closed tight in their own glass framed racks and a long rectangular study table stood in the middle with atleast ten chairs. 'Are they some secret history books?' Jessica says approaching the book rack 'We're here to escape' I remind Jessica and she rolls her eye and turns to approach the table. 'Sis' she yells out suddenly. 'What?' I yell back jerking.

“We know Lance is always hungry.” He walked inside with a smirk. “Maybe his mother starves him every day.” “I’ll tell Auntie Lara about you.” Lance gasped dramatically. “You’re unbelievable!” “Am I not your friend?” “You’re so rude to me!” Another voice interrupted. “You’re all hopeless. Now pay your debts assholes.” We turned to see Harumi entering with Stavos. He held a small notebook. A Teletubbies notebook. Everyone except Stavos immediately paled. I blinked. What? Why were they all scared? It was literally just a cute notebook. “Hey,” I said. “What’s wrong with you guys?”

The design was clean and simple like it was a totally different world. After a few steps, Damien came into view, standing by a door with his hands in his pocket. Jerry straightened. "You asked for me?" Damien glanced over his shoulder, his expression tired. "Hmm." He turned and opened the door, saying only one thing. "Come." Then without waiting, he walked in. Jerry’s brows drew together in confusion but he followed. They passed a hallway, turned a corner, and entered a quiet, softly lit room. And that was when Jerry froze. His breath hitched because on the bed, resting against soft white pillows, was the very person the world believed was dead.

Jessica shakes her head and takes out her phone. “I think I am just going to stay here and read.” She says instead. I chuckle, make my way towards the small closet in my office, and take out a fluffy blanket, one I kept here in hopes of my Princess one day joining me at the club I own. I feel her eyes on me, watching me with curiosity as I drape the blanket over her body. “I will let Hailey know to bring us up some food if you get hungry.” I say dotingly, lightly poking Jessica’s nose. By now, Hailey has quietly slipped out, knowing she is no longer needed.

"No, it's still going. I forgot an important file. It's in the study, top left drawer of the desk—blue folder. Can you bring it over now? I'll text you the address. The company needs it right away." I made my voice tight and stressed. "Right now? I... I was about to go to bed." "Casey, this is for my job. Please, it's really important. Just leave now and bring it to the front of the third-floor banquet hall at H Hotel. Tell the staff you're looking for Jessica. I'll be waiting. Hurry, okay?" I softened my voice with just a hint of pleading. "...Fine, give me a sec, I need to throw on clothes."

Most of all, the anger. Yet another voice had begun speaking inside her head. A quieter voice. A harder voice. One Henri never had. Henri isn't here anymore. The thought appeared suddenly. Brutally. And once it arrived, it refused to leave. That evening Jessica sat alone inside the gallery once again. The city glowed beyond the windows. Visitors were gone. Staff were gone. Only silence remained. The notebook rested on the desk before her. Open. Waiting. Slowly she turned to a blank page.

THIRTY SIX: JESSICA'S POV “You're tracing out again, Jessica.” It was Willow's voice that jolted me out of my thoughts. I turned and glanced at her, then shook my head. She wouldn't understand, and I had no plans to tell her that the man she admired actually killed those three girls last night. How could I even tell her that? “I'm.. I'm just nervous.” I replied slowly and she dropped the book. She was sitting on a couch before me, but she came to sit on the empty space beside me.

"I think I will go for the romance novel for now." After breakfast, Jessica tugged into her room. This is my first time in her room. I glanced at the bed; the pillows were propped up against the headboard. A book was face down in the middle of the bed. I grinned and pointed to it "What’s the name of the novel you’re reading?” I asked. "Nightfalls, it’s a mystery novel." "Ohh, I thought you said you only have romance, streamy, and horror." "That novel ain’t mine, I spotted it in the library and decided to spend the night reading it." She admitted

Then, with a small awkward bow: “I’m Jessa.” Her voice was light, almost musical despite the starkness of the hall. She was about my age - maybe a year older - nineteen. She had soft brown hair tied back with a fraying ribbon, clothes worn but clean, and sturdy work shoes that looked like they’d survived years of labour. There was something tired in her eyes… …but something hopeful, too. “I’m supposed to help you today,” she continued, shifting the basket in her hands. “Show you the quarters, the hall, and… um… anything else you need.”
