Inside the drawer lay a row of handmade dolls. They were all tattered and strange-looking. Some were missing arms, some had broken legs. Others had their mouths sewn shut, their faces expressionless. The black centers of those fixed glass eyes, which should have been nothing more than painted beads or static crystal, shriveled into pinpricks, reacting to the light exactly like a human eye. "Shit!" I clung to my Phantom Scooter's half-dead handlebars, flying over a hallway smeared with who-knows-what slime. Dashboard screamed in blood-red: 00:59. A literal death timer. "Overtime termination! Terminate my ass!" I roasted the system six ways to hell and floored it like I was chasing a warp zone. Third floor. Haunted High. The emergency lights flickered puke green over a ghost girl brushing her hair, back turned, dress in tatters.

AS I STEPPED INTO the hallway, the pitch-black paint nearly left me in the dark, but I was used to it and soon enough my eyes adjusted to the lighting. Curved into the walls were vines decorated with spikes. The carvings are as pitch black as the wall itself, so anyone who got too close to the wall would be sliced open by the spikes. I wasn't looking at the spikes, though, but at the things hanging from them. Thousands of little objects hung from the spikes: necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. I took every piece from a corpse the Nightmare Master forced me to massacre.

The smell of blood mixed with decay hit him like a wave, making him frown involuntarily. His face paled when he saw the dark red chunks of flesh mixed with bits of bones in the bag, hands trembling as he gripped the bag. "This…they're truly monsters!" Zack said, his tone filled with pity. After putting on gloves, he carefully took all the chunks of flesh and bits of bones out of the bag. "This is just too cruel!" Zack's eyes reddened, looking beyond enraged.
