Heza grinned, her eyes practically sparkling. "That's the spirit!" she cheered, giving me a little clap.
Just then, the doors to the hall creaked open. Jaxon walked in, looking kinda awkward but with a huge grin. He was practically drowning in two dozen red roses, their petals so dark red they looked black in the dim light, totally different from the simple decorations.
I stole a glance at Elion, and to my amazement, he was looking right at me. And heaven save me, he was glaring – the kind of glare that screamed, 'I want to kill you.'
