Horror Nights
It was tight, triumphant, and edged with a shivering sort of pride.
"Teacher!" Toby shouted, breathless. "Teacher, today we caught a vampire on the playground. We tied it up and made it scream in the sunlight for hours."
Elias looked up, a chuckle dying in his throat. He expected to see a plastic bat or perhaps a particularly large beetle trapped in a jar. Kids in this rural town had vivid imaginations, fueled by late-night horror movies and the encroaching shadows of the surrounding woods.
"A vampire, Toby?" Elias asked, setting his red pen aside. "That’s quite a feat. I hope you used a silver chain."
