Every ounce of strength. She let go. Suddenly. My weight was already shifting backward from pulling so hard. My foot reached behind me, searching for solid ground. There was nothing. I’d forgotten where I was standing. Right at the edge of the stairs. My arms shot out, grasping desperately for the railing. My fingers brushed it but couldn’t hold on. I fell. My back slammed into the stairs. The air left my lungs. Then gravity took over. I was tumbling, my body hitting step after step. Each impact sent pain shooting through me.

He meant *forward,* but his attention was on the core. The pillar loomed in the middle of the fused chaos, untouched by the fracturing floor. Everything else was in flux. It was the only fixed point. Another tile ahead tried to drop out from under us, carnival planks yawning over a bottomless dark. “No,” I snapped, not at the plank, but at the *fall.* “Shorten,” I thought, hard. “Half‑meter drop. Not pit.” The edge of the board lurched downward—but instead of falling into infinity, it stopped after a foot, snapping into position just low enough that we had to jump, not plummet.

“She’ll be at the shelter Friday night. After the meal run. If she wants to talk, she’ll step outside. If she doesn’t, don’t follow her. Don’t make this worse.” Meekey nodded, hands trembling slightly. “Thank you.” Zoe stood. “Don’t thank me yet. You’ve got one shot.” As she walked away, Meekey gripped the note in her hand like it was made of glass. One shot. And this time, she wasn’t going to miss.

I voiced out. "And whose fault was that?" she said glaring at me. Your psychotic mind, I mumbled beneath my breath, just then she decided to drop one of her crutches, she tried to make it look like an accident but failed miserably. She's going to be the death of me, mumbled before adding a string of curse words to the statement. I hurried over to her and supported her falling figure by putting my hand around her waist leading her to the nearest table. I ignore how right it felt to place my hand around her waist or how she seemed to fit perfectly in my arms every time I carry her. I went to pick up the fallen crutch and made my way back to her.

OLIVIA We stand there, engaged in a staring contest. Of course I lose because in my defense his eyes aren’t really the type you’d like to look into for a long time. It feels like they’ll drag you into the plainness of them. “I’m out of here,” I mutter under my breath and try to push past him. He’s not even trying to be gentle at this point, he pushes my shoulders hard enough that I stumble and fall to the floor. It hurt, really bad. I hope I’ve not bruised my tail bone because it would be even more painful.

He would know who he fucking messed with. I'm at the top of the hill when suddenly a wind blows and I lose my footing. I'm not ready for the fall so I don't brace myself and I go spiraling down the hill I walked up from. How could this happen to me right now?! I wanted to scream or cuss out but I’m well aware of where I am. Anh little mistake could actually be the cause of my downfall.

He said trying to make her drop her plan But she just would not budge, “Relax, bro. It is just a pretend relationship. It is not real, but you can only dump her during the holidays when you will see Stacy. You are going to America during the holidays to propose to Stacy so you won’t lose.” She assured him

Tell me, after she finds out about your little stand-in game, do you think she'll still stay with you?" Josh staggered back, disbelief written all over his face, veins standing out along his neck. He lunged for her phone, but stumbled and fell hard onto the sand. The others, sensing things were going wrong, rushed to persuade him.

The pressure became unbearable. I fall to my knees. Weak, too weak. A single tear roll down my eyes. Because I know as I fall, it will be MoonHaven falling.
