“She’ll be at the shelter Friday night. After the meal run. If she wants to talk, she’ll step outside. If she doesn’t, don’t follow her. Don’t make this worse.” Meekey nodded, hands trembling slightly. “Thank you.” Zoe stood. “Don’t thank me yet. You’ve got one shot.” As she walked away, Meekey gripped the note in her hand like it was made of glass. One shot. And this time, she wasn’t going to miss.

I voiced out. "And whose fault was that?" she said glaring at me. Your psychotic mind, I mumbled beneath my breath, just then she decided to drop one of her crutches, she tried to make it look like an accident but failed miserably. She's going to be the death of me, mumbled before adding a string of curse words to the statement. I hurried over to her and supported her falling figure by putting my hand around her waist leading her to the nearest table. I ignore how right it felt to place my hand around her waist or how she seemed to fit perfectly in my arms every time I carry her. I went to pick up the fallen crutch and made my way back to her.

OLIVIA We stand there, engaged in a staring contest. Of course I lose because in my defense his eyes aren’t really the type you’d like to look into for a long time. It feels like they’ll drag you into the plainness of them. “I’m out of here,” I mutter under my breath and try to push past him. He’s not even trying to be gentle at this point, he pushes my shoulders hard enough that I stumble and fall to the floor. It hurt, really bad. I hope I’ve not bruised my tail bone because it would be even more painful.

I covered my eyes and just then someone catches me and holds me close. "Shhhh it's ok M'lady I'm here now"
