Kate POV The alliance meeting had gone very well. Once Alpha Drew got past all the Boyd crap, and the fact that I was still going to be a co-Alpha to my Pack, he was on board. It sweetened the deal that we were joining our alliance with the larger alliance of Colby’s Pack. Everyone was quite excited about the opportunity this alliance would provide.

Cole sits down next to Alek, who is staring at his hair. “So, what is the problem that we need to talk about?” Everly asks. “Everyone keeps calling or emailing us, trying to set up a meeting with Tianya and Kylynn. For some reason, they think that we can help them.” Nick states. I start explaining what has been happening over the last few weeks. Cole starts laughing, but I am not sure why. Everly tells him to shut up, and they bicker like siblings. I tell them to stop as I give her thigh a light smack.

Kole's voice was solemn. "What is it?" "Kai... he is... alive."

“Besides, do I even know if……he's gay?” A minute of silence lingers. Then Lion's eyes grow dull, he looks down. “What's it?” I snap. “Look.” He stretches out his phone. An image of Kai and a girl. Background is the Pack’s website. My heart grips. I lean, scanning it. “Alpha Anderson of Boston Pack arranges Cerise Leonard, daughter of his best friend for son. Marriage supposedly set for later this year.” I collapse to my seat. Phone drops on the table. My breath pulls through in short, heavy gasps. My eyes moistens.

Kai appeared as shocked as me while his mother looked done with dad. “I'm sorry, honey. I wanted to take time and announce it smoothly, but as you can see, my family is dysfunctional.” Dad apologised to her. “Hold on a second. Announce what?” I asked, standing up. “I wasn't planning to announce it like that but Kylie and I are planning to get engaged later this month.”

"You like her, don't you? I asked, wearing a mischievous grin as I realized that my bestie may have a crush on my new friend. “She's beautiful, I know. And I doubt she's married. Maybe I can-" “Seriously, Kat!” Cole cut me off before I could proceed any further. "Do you really not know who she is?" When I gave him a blank look, Cole cursed under his breath before whipping out his phone and searching for something online. "I forgot you still don't have a social life.” He muttered under his breath before holding the cell to my face. “Kathleen, this is…Korina Gomez, a super model who works for top fashion brands. How did you even meet her?"

And all Cole wanted to do was yell and scream at me. I drift off as Josie is muttering the words to ‘Details’ by Maisie Peters. I’m comfortable and my eyelids start to flutter close when my phone vibrates in my hand. UNKNOWN NUMBER Hey, it’s Kingston. This might seem weird, but did you tell Cole about the kiss? Sent 6:17pm. Which is kind of hilarious because he’s well over six feet tall and is seriously broad in the chest and shoulders. This one is definitely all man. Lexie, of course, filled me in via Skype on the football playing boyfriend she acquired about seven months ago. Needless to say, she wasn’t exaggerating. He’s pretty damn hot.
