Shelves lined the walls, stocked with tarot cards, crystals, books, and even a few journals.
Zuri looked like a more carefree version of Jada and Hakeem’s mother. She wore a bright yellow skirt that flowed down to her sandaled feet, along with a beaded tank top whose teal fibers contrasted beautifully with her dark, radiant skin. Braids hung from her head down to her waist, shimmering with little silver cuffs and bits of crystal.
Her eyes scanned the three of us and continued moving, never settling in one place. I had just turned towards the many shelves when the Whisperer appeared out of thin air. The suddenness of his arrival made me jump, which earned me a confused scowl from Hakeem.
