She hoped he had it all ready for their stay. Karen grabbed her receipts and her journal for the store and slid to the floor next to her big overstuffed chair in the family room. It was the place she usually worked on her books. She pulled her knees up and propped the ledger on them, stacking the receipts alongside her leg. She smiled to herself. It was the way she had sat to study since she was a girl. At thirty-eight, she was hardly a girl, she thought. Not at thirty seven, twenty four, thirty six and one hundred and ten pounds stacked on a five foot four frame.

“You never told me that, baby girl?” Christian’s voice floats my way as Jenny nudges me gently and nods across the aisle. I had finally gotten into my book after all and blanked them all out as I was pulled into a magical world of Vampires and Werewolves fighting over human girls. I look up nonplussed, catching Arrick glancing my way with that infuriating unreadable expression and yet a softness to his face that I haven’t seen in a long time. He almost looks a little bit happy and it just makes me feel shittier.

The girl said. “Same here. I actually thought that this book wasn’t popular but you’re reading it as well. Oh, I’m Kayne by the way, Kayne David.” “I’m Natsumi Koga, it’s nice to meet you!” “Ah yes, you as well. I was actually about to ask if you always come here.” Kayne asked. “Uhuh, I always go to this café every time I go to town, this is actually kind of my spot, haha.”

Stricken with fear, I dared to twirl around and my eyes almost fell out of their sockets when I bumped into master Kieran. I choked hard, coughing loudly as I flew away from him. My eyes began to water both from fear of being caught and choking on the grape. “You must be enjoying yourself.” He finished with a nod. Although his tone was light, his eyes were anything but cool. A shiver ran through me when I dared to meet his eyes. Never have I seen a soul as empty as his. He looked so cold and defiant, like he had nothing to lose and only now, did I confirm the few rumors of some slaves that had been unfortunate enough to cross him.

Karen's expression morphed into a twisted glare as she strode towards Emma, clutching the box tightly in her hand. "You conniving wench! I sensed your deceitful nature from the moment I set eyes on you. But this is far from over; I will make sure you pay dearly for your actions and expose you for who you truly are to Mr. Maddox," Karen hissed, her voice dripping with venom as she brushed past Emma and headed towards the elevator. Emma watched her depart, undeterred by Karen's empty threats. With a satisfied grin, she settled into her desk, surveying the multitude of files and documents before her. Each paper represented a step closer to her ultimate goal – revenge against Trevor.

The diner where Karen worked at part-time was small and cozy, and didn’t have many clients – outside of the usual ones, that was. Nevertheless, on a sunny September day in her senior year, five strangers came in the diner. Her encounter with them would change her life irrevocably… she just didn’t know that yet. That day, Karen had styled her mid-length blonde hair into a messy bun, put very little make-up on, and dressed casually. There was nothing fancy about her.

Karen and her friend, Lauren, scooted over to the bar at the conference hotel, their arms grazing lightly as they settled into barstools and ordered their martinis. Karen is a curvy brunette with dark eyes, a deep tan, and a full mouth. For her friend, she is a willowy blonde, petite and graceful, with big expressive eyes and an irresistible sweetness. She have a normal body and well endowed in perfect places more than Karen. Karen is a beautiful girl but not to be compared to Lauren. They do make quite a pair, and they are as close as friends can be, except that Karen had a secret that Lauren don't know.

she said confidently. "Tell me about it," he urged. "To begin with, Karen is a young hybrid girl who somehow managed to break through the barrier created by Xavier Westwood. ‘WHAT A JOB!’ Karen exclaimed from her perch on the library steps. ‘I shouldn’t think anyone’s been up here for a decade.’ Hot, dusty, she had already spent three days at it but so far had only scratched the surface of the monumental task of correlating the vast amount of undocumented material.
