Katherine looked sharp in a hot pink power suit and white sneakers matching her satin camisole. She glanced up and smiled, but her sapphire eyes remained cold like glass. Her smile never seemed to reach her eyes. "Please take a seat." I opened the door and found her standing with sunglasses pushed into her curls and a smug grin on her face. “Well, well, well. Look at you looking all glowing.” She waved her hand like she was fanning imaginary sparkles. “Did someone get proposed to last night or what?” I rolled my eyes. “Scarlett, please.” “I’m serious,” she insisted, walking inside like she owned the place. “Is this the same woman who had rushed to pick up his son at school too late? She looked at my dad and asked, "Connor, if you could go back in time, would you still marry me?" My dad turned to meet her gaze, but he said nothing. My mom finally shed tears of anguish.
