Rosemary shouted. As Chantelle ran out, tears kept coming, no matter how hard Chantelle tried to hold them back. She felt so overwhelmed and alone. How could she possibly get everything done in time? And even if she did, what then? She would still be stuck here, under the thumb of her cruel and controlling relatives. The thought made her feel trapped, like a bird in a cage. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. But it was no use. The tears kept coming, and she felt her shoulders shaking with sobs.

It was strange because I had known her for five years, but we didn't seem that close, unlike when Aimee and I would talk and instantly click with each other. "Kate, what's hanging inside your room?" I turned to Loriane, who had just finished using the bathroom. We were now tidying up because we were going to set up our sleeping area in the living room. "Huh? You don't know? That's a dream catcher that I always hang in my room. It's a gift from Aunt Katherine," Aimee answered her question, and we both wondered. We had been with her for five years, and she only noticed my dream catcher now?

She looked very much like Jennifer Connelly, with the way her eyebrows framed her kind, delicate eyes. She and K had some resemblance, too. They were both stunningly beautiful, with slim physique, the right combination of sharp and soft features on their faces, and they were of the same height, too. The only difference was, K was more exotic, which was probably something she got from her nonexistent father. They are both super nice and kind to me. Katie I learned has just turned 18 and she wants to become a nurse. She is supposed to go to a training at another pack, but hasn’t received her approval letter yet. With her personality, I know she will make a great nurse. She is always hoping she meets her mate soon. She is very excited about it. I know whoever her mate is will be very lucky. She is beautiful with her strawberry blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. I even catch warriors looking at her often, but she never notices.

Then the delicate empath, known to everyone simply as Irish, smiled at last and nodded her approval to Katie. Katelyn smiled back, her pearl-gray eyes showing her relief.

I take deep breaths while I loosen my tie and open some of my shirt’s buttons. What is it Dakota? Will you tell me now? I ask him. Impatience surfaces on my skin. She is here. I can sense her. I want to feel her. I want to touch her. I want- Her? Who are you talking about? Our mate, Ryan. Our precious mate. Mate?

“What do you think, red?” She smiles sweetly. “I think you’re biased, Your Highness.” “Absolutely.” Suddenly, a scoff cuts through the moment. “Katie, my love! Let’s see yours.” Damian’s voice comes through, sharp as broken glass. Kira doesn’t even flinch. But I can feel the tension rolling off Damian like a storm about to break. Katie walks out in a red jumpsuit that probably cost a fortune but somehow looks cheap on her. She glances at Damian, waiting for approval like a child seeking praise.
