“Your father is going to talk about something important, stay here.” Darren sighed, he really wanted to take the girl away from this boring family gathering. But he couldn't help but listen to his father speak first. “We look like family, right Mr. Frank?” He was Adam Jarl, Alpha Pack Kyne, Darren's father. Of course before answering that question, Frank chuckled to break the ice. After all he thought it was a good signal to bring two families together. “Yeah, we're like two families already, Alpha Adam. I feel like we're very compatible in every way.”

He hasn't started walking yet, but I know it's coming soon. "He's over there." I point in their direction with my knife and get back to the task at hand. Geni bounces away, plopping herself down on the couch next to Erik. He looks at her and grins. I stop what I'm doing and watch them chat for a minute. "No," I say under my breath. "No way." "No way, what?" I hear behind me. I didn't even hear Daniel come in. "Look at Geni." Daniel puts his hands on my hips and rests his chin on my shoulder. He's silent for a few beats as we watch Geni and Erik talk and laugh and give each other small touches. "Is she…?" he starts. "Are they… flirting?"

Chapter 12 Cruelty THE CELESTIAL IMPERIAL Kiara watched Darius as he clenched his fits and his jaw tightened. "Hey! You! Come to me!” He pointed at Zendaya. “Me?” Zendaya shrink back. His eyebrows snapped together. “I said come to me!” Darius snarled. Slowly Zendaya stood up and went to him. "Well since your father couldn't pay off his debt so you have to pay for it by serving me." Darius held an eye contact with Kiara as he said those words.

He kisses her temple. Darius is hot. There’s no denying that. He has the body of a Greek god and the face of a Calvin Klein model. Jet black hair that falls forwards into his deep brown eyes that are framed with thick black lashes. His skin is bronze and beautiful. I used to fancy him so much that I thought we might be mates; I got super jealous when he got with Bridget and was always desperate for him to notice me. But he never did, he has barely spared me a glance all these years. I mean, I still do fancy the pants off him, who wouldn’t? But I’m sure my mate would want to at least speak to me. Well, I hope at least.

"We should head back. Kenji has been going nuts. I've been ignoring his mindlinks, but I doubt I'll be able to for much longer, especially with you gone. He knows I'd have his head if something happened to you. So we better get back before he sends the militia after us." I quickly grab him and bring his head down to meet mine. "Soon. Just let me enjoy this first." I say, kissing him. Darius doesn't respond. Rather he brushes my hair away from my face as he returns my kiss. We continue to kiss for several more minutes until I can also hear Kenji's frantic mindlink to Darius. "You're right. He's terrified. I guess we better go. I'm sure he's probably aged ten years in our absence."

Allowing herself to understand that she was now safe, though whatever harm that he, the man that I refused to now call her father, had done to her was done. The four of us stand up when five extremely large men walk in. “I am Kaden, and this is my cousin Alek. These two here are Brent and Lance.” I say. “Hey, I am Curtis, and this is Venom,” Curtis says. “I am Quade, and this is Zion. I am assuming you know Chaos.” Quade states.
