Karen couldn't believe all the changes in her life in such a short time. Less than three weeks ago she was day dreaming about a man she walked past on the street. Now she couldn't wait to be his mate and become a wolf. She watched her chocolate colored wolf running through the trees in his pursuit of a deer. She wondered if she'd be able to do it, chase after an animal and kill it. He had assured her that her wolf would take care of it for her. It would be a natural instinct. She still worried.

I took off as fast as I could! I ran for a couple of blocks at top speed before I heard the sound behind me. He must have shifted, Eckley was faster than Carson. He was gaining on me. Tell all the wolves you can to run towards our pack we will give you refuge.” The wolf nodded and trotted off, warning as many of his pack members as he could. Jess waited again for any more movement in her area before moving again. Soon the pack house came into view, remembering her visit from a week ago she knew the nearest escape hatch was directly behind the house.

A sprawling den and several other larger rooms and halls led deeper into the mansion. Even the main compound at Wolf Pack Run—which housed all the apartments of the pack’s elite warriors—wasn’t as immaculate as this. The Grey Wolves ran one of the largest ranches in the state of Montana. It was a multimillion-dollar business. But that profit supported well over one hundred Grey Wolf families who made their home at Wolf Pack Run. Not to mention that the pack sent significant income to the subpacks and used funds from that same income as part of their operation costs.

Astrid's POV: My wolf moved swiftly through the dense forest with powerful legs propelling it forward with ease. The sound of her paws hitting the soft ground echoed through the woods. Her thick fur coat rippled in the wind as she weaved in and out of the trees, her sharp senses attuned to the slightest noise or movement. With each bound, my wolf covered great distances, her movements fluid and graceful. As she ran, her piercing eyes scanned her surroundings, searching for any sign of danger or prey.

“The three black werewolves, it was a message.” Aria frowned, not understanding. “The time of the terrorists. The three black werewolves. The king and his two eldest sons. One of them is a prisoner now.” The Terrorizers. The ones her father wanted to stop. They were three black werewolfs, always three with one flying at the front and one on each behind him. When it was over, a massive black wolf stood where Kael had been. He was enormous - easily twice the size of any normal wolf. His fur was midnight black with silver threading through it, especially around his face and ears. But it was his eyes that made my breath catch. They were still Kael’s eyes, that same icy-gray color, looking out from the wolf’s face with unmistakable intelligence. The wolf - Kael - took a cautious step toward me. When I didn’t move away, he came closer, moving with fluid grace until he was standing just an arm’s length away.
