Emily nodded, still looking exhausted.
Just then, there was a knock on the hospital room door. Harris walked in, his expression somewhat strange.
"Mr. Lambert, Cassie wants to see you. She's on a hunger strike in detention, all just to see you once."
I frowned slightly. "No."
"She says," Harris paused, "she says she knows a secret about your parents, and if you don't see her, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
My heart sank heavily. My parents were the deepest wound in my heart. Emily and I grew up in an orphanage, with no memory of our parents. I tried to find my biological parents before, but there were no clues. It was as if they never existed in this world at all.
