The silence settled again, only interrupted by the soft taps of our footsteps and the occasional sizzle of raindrops on Kaspian’s cigarette. Suddenly, I stopped. “Damn it,” she muttered, checking her bag. “Where are my house keys? Did I drop it when you dragged my ass to your warehouse?” “Well, now you have to come back,” he said, grinning. “Fate works fast.” Kierra rolled her eyes. “I’d rather buy for a new one than owe you another favor.” Kaspian chuckled and leaned in, teasing, “One of these days, Kierra, you’re going to laugh at one of my jokes and it’ll be the highlight of my criminal career.”

With a soft smile dancing on his lips, he leaned on the doorframe, observing her intently. Did you even sleep?” She gestured at the bags under my eyes. I wished she’d ignored them.

I started reading the books from Kier.” I glared at her. She smirked. “Now concentrate, Pet.” Thirty minutes later, she placed a candle on my head.

“Which, by the way, you seem to be severely lacking.” Keira scoffed, shoving another dress into her overnight bag. “Common sense is overrated.” “No, common sense is what stops people from committing corporate espionage over a crush.” “It’s not espionage!” Keira hissed. “It’s… damage control.” Gianna snorted. “Right. And I’m the queen of England.” Keira flopped onto her bed with a groan. “Look, I just need a name. Someone who can wipe the footage, I'll pay well.”

I put all the folded clothes in one side before giving my attention to her.
