Alice bellowed as she rested her elbows on her knees and buried her face in her hands. The room went still from the shock of her words. The thud of Felix’s body slamming against the wall as he struggled to remain upright beat against their eardrums. It was Kendra who finally spoke. “Who ate her, Alice? Estefan turned his gaze to Kaluna from a distance as soon as Kiki finished writing her answer. "Yes, Sir!" said Kaluna with a lazy face as she walked forward without carrying his book. Kiki then handed the marker he was holding to Kaluna's outstretched hand. "Where's your book?" asked Estefan flatly while looking at Kaluna straight on.

She printed it out the moment it arrived. The first brand partnership. Real numbers. Real terms. A company that actually wanted to pay her for the thing she'd been building in the dark. She laid the pages on the kitchen island, smoothing out the corners with her palm. Then she waited. He came home at seven.
