If I hadn’t been so stubborn… this wouldn’t have happened. He would still be alive. I lift my head. And look at him. The Alpha. My hero. No. Not my hero. Not anymore. “You…” My voice trembles. “You killed him.” He watches me. Unmoved. Like it means nothing. Something inside me snaps. “I hate you!” I scream, raw and broken. “I hate you!” For a second— just one— interest flickers in his expression. Dark. Dangerous.

Her hands bled, her shard burning her skin, but she held on, her resolve a mirror of mine. Killian roared, a broken, animal sound, his fists pounding the ground, his face twisted with rage and grief. "Choose?" he screamed, his voice cracking. "One of you dies, and what? We just let it happen? I’m not a hero, but I’ll be damned if I let you go without a fight." His eyes met mine, raw, pleading, and it tore me apart.

But before anyone could react further, Victor looked up at Lynnek one last time. With his final strength, he shouted across the battlefield— "Don't trust the prophecy... Find the Guardian of the First Moon!" A second arrow struck him. Victor Lucaster collapsed to the ground. Dead. Lynnek's scream echoed across the valley as the siege horns sounded once more. I covered my head as pieces of stone rained around us. "Nira!" I knew that voice. It was so familiar. He burst through another entrance with Kael close behind him. Neither of them slowed. Kael's sword met the blade of a masked Council member with a sharp clang that echoed through the chamber. Sparks flew between them. It was the first time I saw him fight. Every strike forced the attacker backward. Another Council member lunged toward me, but Adrian intercepted him before he reached me. Their blades collided. The impact sent both of them sliding across the stone floor.

"Then why haven't you killed me yet? If you know who I am, finish it!" That was the assassin law. Kill or be killed. He leaned in so close, his dominant, terrifying scent completely enveloped me, entirely erasing the acrid masking serum I had on me. His voice was a low, mocking rumble that vibrated through his chest. "Killing my mate before I mark her?" A dark, wicked smile touched his lips. "Hell no." "I'm not your fucken mate, you beast," I hissed, glaring up into his endless, infuriating gray eyes. "I would rather die than watch you mark me."

But every dose only delayed an ending that was already written. Every extra day I held on meant more agony when the wolf finally shattered. "I want to use my last shift." Alaric's finger paused in my palm. He understood. The Healer had said two shifts remained. A few days ago, during a fever, the Healer had been forced to trigger a brief shift to stabilize the wolf. Now there was only one left. I wanted to use that last shift to become a wolf. And die in wolf form. "All right." Alaric agreed. His voice was steady. But the character he traced into my palm—"here"—pressed harder than before.

His mental health is in bad condition. "I know it was Xavier who killed Mica. And they searched for me too, so I escaped," his hands started to tremble and I'm witnessing this right now with my two eyes. "Lily, remember Hero..." he wasn't able to continue what he was saying when he fell to the ground. Three gunshots and it hits his body. I saw Xavier behind him and it was Mark who shot Takashi. "Hero..." I heard Takashi mentioning that name again before he finally closes his eyes. He was lifeless in front of me.

Cal shouts out to her but she doesn't answer him instead she points straight at him and a scream leaves my mouth as he falls to the ground and lands next to his own heart. My temper quickly rises and a little girl or not I want to kill her because clearly there's more to her than we realized and she's just killed members of my family and most of all she's killed my Alpha and best friend. Before I can even react she points to every other warrior that's there and one by one they fall to the ground as do their hearts.

His words went into me like a knife. He was willing to use the baby as leverage. For her. Maya's face was white against his shoulder. "Mason, I'm fine… If Lara doesn't want to give it up, please don't make her. "I'm brave. I'm not afraid to die." His brow drew down hard. The blood on me was making me cold. I forced what voice I had left. "Mason. I am not lying to you. There is so much blood."
