The Alpha's Only Weakness
The air in the chamber shifted, and my skin prickled as he walked around the table slowly, the room growing darker as he did so.
“We had assumed her death was inevitable, but if she lives...” the King said. “Devotion is a dangerous thing. It makes men weak. And weak men are easy to control.”
He stopped a few feet from me, studying me closely.
My father shifted uncomfortably. “Your Majesty, my daughter is shaken. Perhaps…”
“Leave us,” the King said calmly, and my father stiffened, as did I.
“Your Majesty…”
“That was not a request.” He ordered, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop.
