King Of Wrath By Ana Huang Novels & Stories

I find myself looking at a group of angry Lycans who look like they want to bite my head off. The hands dragging me out suddenly throw me to the ground and the crowd surrounds me. One woman in particular comes forward and lands a hard slap on my face that makes me see stars. I'm confused. What in the goddess name is happening? Someone else is thrown on the ground next to me and I let out a scream. He looks dead, his face is beaten black and blue and he smells like a werewolf. "The princess was in cahoots with this werewolf who's killed one of our own. It's high time we fought back and showed these werewolves that we are not weak!"

I could feel the pride and admiration she had for her friend through our bond, and all I could do was smile. Rayan was sitting on the stage smiling as well, while the entire room began to fill with the stench of copper and burning flesh. The royals of the other factions were shocked that she would put on such a violent display of power, and some of them even gagged at the stench. It seemed that it was only the witch Kings along with Crysanthi and I that were enjoying watching the new wolf queen melt the brains of her traitors. Surely anyone who would think of crossing the Wolf monarchy was thinking twice about it now.

She steadied my teetering body. The scent she carried, that of a high-ranking wolf, once filled me with awe and comfort. Her eyes were reddened as she hugged and cried with me. She whispered in a volume only I could hear, mixed with the secret language of the werewolves. "Sas, my dear, I believe you. None of us would mistake Jordan's scent! That bastard, how dare he do this?"

She would never allow anyone to hurt her people. That's when Kyra saw the slightest green ting in her opponents eyes. 'Hybrid' Asana whispered in her head.

Dropping the tray on the floor, I spun around and beelined for the stairs. Just as I descended the fifth step, a hand yanked at my bun, making it loosen into a ponytail, and the sharp tug instantly pulled me backwards. “You fucking bitch!” The man sneered and despite the blood that trickled down his temple and onto my cheek, his grip on my hair tightened. “Do you have a death wish?!” The pain that shot through my scalp made my eyes water. “Let me go!” I cried, thrashing wildly as I struggled to free myself from his unforgiving grip.

Daniel tried to follow, but she stopped him. “My name,” she started, “is Avana Le Granc Dubes, Queen, and Head of the Order of Shadows. I…” she faltered. Ava took a moment to compose her thoughts, staring into space. “I started the war between the shadows and the vampires and werewolves. It was on my orders that my people revolted. We wanted to have more power. Not over any of you. We wanted power over ourselves. Over everything you possessed that we could not have. We thought—I thought you cheated us out of things you all took for granted. You treated us like second-class citizens, like slaves, for your amusement. You scorned and treated like we were nothing,” she said bitterly.

“Earthly Wound; Heal. An Injured Mind, Heal By Avenge.” The blood oozes out from the wound on the left-winged arm of Nora, the night fury. Though being the strongest female warrior in the entire Ayruzglow kingdom, she felt the pain gravely. What hurt her most was not the wound on her left-winged arms; it’s the failure she grasped in the battle between Queen of Black Witch and warrior pack of werewolves.

Treat her right now and maybe she'll take care of you when you're old. I frowned. "Everything Della 'achieved' was because I paid for it. And the cash you blew from Patrick? Marital property. I'm reclaiming it. Better start saving." The crowd finally caught on. Whispers turned to jeers—calling Cathy shameless. A side chick bold enough to taunt the wife, then expect her to babysit the side chick's kid. People spat, cursed, full-on hurled insults at her. She snapped, face red. "Erza Everard, what are you even proud of? Your precious sons worshipped Della! You treat us like this, they'll all turn against you! They don't even claim you anymore. Serves you right!"

“Silence.” I still couldn’t fathom I was in the presence of the Alpha King! He ran one of the most prolific packs around and we had the best army. Lots of Packs looked to us for aid and advice. He was a glorious leader in his day. He made mistakes like marrying Luna Monica but no one’s perfect. “So it is justice you want? Is that all? You don’t want reparations?” The King questioned. I shook my head. “I just want to know why they did it. I don’t have anyone else.”

“Go back to the room. Please, Ana. Stay away from this. I will come find you very soon. Just go.” She didn't listen to me. Instead, she ripped her arm out of my grasp and stood up. She stood tall between me and the King. I could feel the fury radiating off her in waves. The crowd felt amazed as they watched a girl they considered an outcast stand up to the most powerful man in the pack.
