Just me, my two blades, and the smell of the wolves. "Well, well," a smooth, vicious voice purred through the burning gray fog. "Look at the big Alpha. All alone in the mud." Vex stepped through the smoke. She looked terrifyingly perfect. She wasn't wearing heavy armor like Vance's grunts; she wore sleek, dark leather plates that showed off her elongated, hybrid-grafted limbs. Her eyes weren't human anymore—they were bright, reflective silver, shifting fast under the red emergency lamps. In her right hand, she held a long, curved steel cleaver that was already painted in Nullifier blood.

The harsh beam stabbed at my eyes and I winced. My attacker was Victor "Vex" Mercer, the president of the Iron Serpents. My stomach dropped straight to hell. Oh, fantastic. I’d just had my tongue down the throat of a fucking Serpent princess! Vex was a very handsome man, irrespective of the scars on his face and the white-brown of his hair. But he was glaring at me with hatred in his eyes. “You’re a Revenant!" He growled into my face. “What the hell are you doing in my territory, huh? Sneaking around? Spying for your boss by kissing my daughter?"

She could see the love in his eyes and it melted her heart so hard that she couldn't help but let a tear roll down her cheek, her heart filled with so much emotion. Dennis stood, surprised to see her in tears, he wanted to say a word but he appeared so speechless. With their gaze fixed on each other, Cassandra slowly raised her hand and held Dennis face, more tears welling up in her eyes. Slowly, she brought his face closer to hers, their mouth almost meeting but immediately, Cassandra fainted, her eyes closed as nothing but thick darkness filled her.

The lady was surprised and confused when he suddenly cut her off. "Y-Yes? I think she placed it on her vanity area." He felt like he was being poured with a glass of cold water when his speculation was confirmed. Hyde remembered it when he went to the victim's vanity table. He remembered what it looked like. A bird darker than a crow, and usually eats flesh from dead animals. A bird that means DEATH... A CARRION CROW.

“What is it?” Axel’s grin could not be wider as of the moment. “The instigator of this mess… is missing a Heart Blood.”

“Channel your light, Lena! Seal the rift!” I leap to the heart, blade raised, lunar light spilling, merging with the runes. Blake was sitting opposite me and I could instantly feel that he did not like his brother sitting next to me. “Xavier, meet the Lycan King Jolene, her mate Alpha Maverick, their children, Prince Harlan, and Princess Luna, and Harlan’s mates, Austin, and Cyrus. Luna is the child of the prophecy. She is also Blake’s mate,” Queen Helena tells him. He looks at us and smiles. His smile is amazing.

"She's trying to manipulate the Heart to her own ends." Aria nodded, her gaze fixed on Evangeline. The vampire queen was now hovering over the Heart, her hand outstretched as if to claim it as her own. Suddenly, the Heart began to hum, a low, resonant sound that vibrated through the chamber. Aria felt a surge of power, a connection to the Heart that was both exhilarating and terrifying. It was calling to her, beckoning her to reach out and claim it. But as she reached for the Heart, a new vision emerged. She saw herself, consumed by the Heart's power, her eyes glowing with an eerie light. She saw the destruction she would unleash, the innocent lives that would be lost.

Mate. Her mate is the Lycan King of Tenebrous. Vaelen's hand swept up and down her side, and slowly, the room grew dark until, once again, it felt as though she was using her power to find his beast—but no, that wasn't the case. The whole room was engulfed in thick darkness, darker than night, a storm of it and they were all coming from Vaelen. His beast was on the surface, calling to her, she could feel it now, so she answered—for him, she’d glow.
