Three more gentle taps. It was so late at night and Thane knew that Tyla has never knocked on their door that way and so he knew it wasn't his mate.

He got a lot on his plate to handle instead of worrying about his second break-up with his ex. “Okay… she should be getting up by now,” he whispered before knocking on the door. Shane leaned his ear on the door and waited for any response, but he could barely hear anything. He knocked a few more times but still no response. “Is she still sleeping?” he murmured and waited.

A few minutes later, a Knock sounded on the door and she pretended not to know who it was. “Who is it?” she asked, sounding weak and sick. “Shawn,” came his nice baritone voice. She smiled as she braced herself for what is about to go down. “Come in…”

John stepped into the room around this point. Sherry was just about to fall asleep when she was awakened by John knocking on the door. She glared at him grumpily. "The door is unlocked, what are you knocking for?” John stood by the threshold of the door and looked at Sherry with a snarky smile. “What, did you leave the door unlocked just for me?" Sherry seemed repulsed by this suggestion and said, "You think too highly of yourself, I just forgot to lock the door."
