I chuckled. Clement and Vivian had been spending the better part of the last decade just traveling and enjoying their time together. But they took breaks often to come to see the family. My parents were active as well. They had come over to help with Kyle when he was born but dad loved to stay at his house the most, so Mom took him back begrudgingly. “But I don’t get to see Kyle and Kevin and you and mom.”

I muttered uneasily. I was now in the room I shared with Kyle. The discussion a few moments ago made Zeeva so angry with my parents that she chose to go to her parents for a while. I instantly remembered Kyle, who was always gentle no matter what our situation was. Even if my parents treated her badly, Kyle never helped or got angry. How is she doing? Will I be able to have a son if I'm still with Kyle? When I was thinking about Kyle, my pair of eyes accidentally saw Kyle's personal safe. During the time we were together, I never looked into the safe. Now my curiosity was aroused.

Kyle was happy as her family did everything to get to know Damon, she stared at Damon who smiled at her. ‘Your parents, where are they?’ Mr. Williams asked. ‘My mom is late, but my dad lives in Los Angeles with his other family’ Damon replied. ‘Did they like Kyle?’ Unise was the one to ask and Kyle had an embarrassed look, Damon felt nervous as he had never introduced Kyle to his family even if she kept asking. Unise noticed the tension in the air and decided to change the subject. ‘So, Damon, where did you meet Kyle?’ she asked, trying to ease the awkwardness.

It's like everyone around me is keeping some sort of secret, and I'm just waiting for them to drop like a bomb on me. I honestly don't know if I can take more. I have already taken more than I can chew, too much for a girl my age to chew if you ask me. "It wasn't my place to tell you that," he says. We sit in silence, sipping on our glasses of milk. "Is Kyle here?" I ask, changing the subject. Kyle is Shawn's son, my cousin. "Yeah," he says, and I nod. Kyle is seven years old. He usually stays with his mom, Dora, they divorced three years ago, but now share custody.

“Then their parents died. I got custody.” My heart was beating faster now. “They were playing one night. Keith fell and hit his head. There was blood and Kyle panicked. He begged him to wake up. The maids came in, saw Kyle, saw the blood, and that was it. They always thought something was off about him. So this… it just fit.” She folded her arms, eyes locked on me like she was trying to watch it sink in. “Kyle was just a kid. Quiet. Smart. Always pushed to do more. His parents were cold. Keith was the only one who gave him anything close to warmth. Imagine what that meant to him. And then… it was gone.”

As we approached Kyle’s car, he immediately opened the door for us. During the journey, my parents and Kyle chatted nonstop. Meanwhile, I sat there with a smile, observing them. After a few months, I would be able to return to our mansion. Their flight was scheduled for Monday morning, so I would be staying at home for the entire weekend. I also learned that aside from the business, they were conducting training in another country with their student protectors, which is why their stay there was prolonged. When we arrived home, my parents got off the car first before bidding farewell to Kyle.

She'd somehow landed herself a taste of the wealthy life. I had to admit, this sugar daddy’s taste was, to put it mildly, quite peculiar. "No, not at all. Ms. Lawrence looks like a kind, family-oriented woman." I practically bit down on the words "kind" and "family-oriented". Mom coughed guiltily and hurriedly held a peeled grape up to Kyle's mouth. "Kyle, sit down and rest. Leave tutoring the child to Mr. Wilder." Kyle casually took hold of her hand. Though he was smiling, there was an unmistakable sense of control in his voice.

But neither one of us mentioned it. "We have to head back after breakfast. Kyle left so he could tell the King you were better," She says, taking a bite of bacon. "Thanks for all you guys have done for me," "Brinley, we have each other's backs always." I nod, "True," "So my parents are coming next week. Kyle and I can't wait to tell them about the baby," Katie says, smiling wide. "What about his parents?" Katie's smile falls, and her brows crease, "Kyle's mom died at birth, and his father died two years ago," Katie says, but her eyes say she is in deep thought.

"I mean... most rich kids are like a snob and don't like to get dirty." Kyle paused. His brows met before replying, "Anyone would help the old man. My mother would kick me if I didn't. My dad would do the same." "Really?" Gaby asked before staring towards the path again. "Even Kenzie?" "Yeah, even her! I admit we are rich, but our parents taught us compassion," Kyle answered, and for the first time in his life, he winked at a girl. He swore, Gaby blushed, and that made him grin in approval. Her next reply, however, easily formed another grimace on his face.

"Not happening. Go to your bathroom and brush your teeth, I'll wait for you here." I smiled as I listened to those two boys. They really are like brothers, and my heart breaks for Kyle. He's a nice kid, and he doesn't deserve to be mistreated. Now that his dad and stepmother are both facing possible jail time, he's got nowhere to go. Both his parents are only child, and his grandparents are all dead. We are the only ones who can take care of him.
