Blood And Desire
The dungeon was a tomb of cold stone and endless dark, the only light a thin, dying glow from the corridor torch, its doors creaked open as River slipped inside, his cloak pulled tight, eyes scanning the dim cell until they found Scarlett. She sat slumped against the wall, knees drawn up to her chest, a jagged piece of broken metal clutched in her trembling hand. The rusted bar fragment hovered over her wrist, the skin already nicked, blood already beading along the shallow cut, slow drops of blood dripping onto the filthy straw. Tears streamed down her face, silent and endless, she hadn’t yet found the courage—or the despair—to go deeper.
